Friedl went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: Friedl's fourth-inning double was his first extra-base hit since returning from a fractured wrist. It also produced the go-ahead run for Cincinnati, which snapped an eight-game losing streak. Friedl is 4-for-18 with one stolen base in four contests since his return. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

    • Davis Schneider leading off again for Blue Jays
George Springer (illness) remains absent from the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Twins.

Advice: It’s Davis Schneider in the leadoff spot for the second straight contest with Springer out of the lineup due to a viral illness. Blue Jays manager John Schneider was noncommittal when it came to Springer, who has struggled to a .574 OPS through 35 games, reclaiming the leadoff role once he’s healthy. It’s a significant development for fantasy managers rostering Schneider, who boasts a robust .378 on-base percentage this season in 98 plate appearances. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Rays activate closer Pete Fairbanks on Saturday
Rays activated RHP Pete Fairbanks from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Fairbanks makes his return to Tampa Bay’s closer role following a three-week absence due to a nerve-related condition in his right hand. The 30-year-old stopper struggled in eight appearances to open the year, but looked sharp earlier this week in a pair of minor league rehab appearances for Triple-A Durham. He should take over the closing duties for the Rays with relief ace Jason Adam continuing to vulture the occasional save chance. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
    • Reinstated off IL
The Rays reinstated Fairbanks (arm) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Fairbanks played in two games with Triple-A Durham for his rehab assignment, and he threw one scoreless inning with a strikeout in his last outing Thursday. The right-hander joined the Rays on Friday, and he will be available for the weekend series against the Yankees. Before landing on the IL on April 22 with a nerve issue in his throwing arm, Fairbanks logged three saves in eight outings with a 9.00 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB over seven frames. • Not starting Saturday
Springer (illness) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Springer will miss his second straight game due to an illness. Davis Schneider will once again hit in the lead-off spot and start in left field Saturday. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

    • Finding stride at plate
Acuna went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Mets.

Advice: He took Jose Quintana deep in the third inning, part of a four-run frame for Atlanta. Acuna may be turning things around at the plate -- after posting a 26.5 percent strikeout rate in April, he's fanned just 19.4 percent of the time through the first seven games in May. He's also batting .310 (9-for-29) to begin the month with two of his three homers on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:31 am

    • Max Meyer struggling back at Triple-A Jacksonville
Max Meyer was charged with four runs (two earned) over 2 2/3 innings on Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Meyer struck out five and also issued four walks. He was brilliant in three starts for the Marlins at the outset of the regular season, but has struggled since returning to Triple-A. The 25-year-old righty holds a bloated 9.24 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings (four starts). It’s unclear when he’ll be summoned back to Miami, but we’re anticipating he’ll make an impact for fantasy managers, especially in the strikeout department, on a per-start basis. • Third straight two-steal game
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: De La Cruz stole a base after each of his hits, no doubt taking advantage of the Giants starting their fourth-string catcher, Jakson Reetz, in this contest. This was De La Cruz's third straight game with multiple steals, and he's achieved that feat seven times already this season. The speedy infielder is up to 25 thefts on 29 attempts in 2024 while maintaining a .271/.370/.519 slash line through 38 games. He's added eight home runs, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple while serving as the Reds' No. 2 hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 pm

    • Closes out Friday's game
Diaz walked one and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: Diaz had given up five runs over 1.1 innings across his last two outings, which came in non-save situations. This was his first save since April 27, and he's now 7-for-8 in save chances this season. A couple of implosions have wreaked havoc on Diaz's ratios -- he's at a 6.08 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 13.1 innings, and he's been scored upon in four of his 14 appearances. His walk rate is high, but it hasn't cost him the Reds' closer job yet. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:01 pm
