    • Homers in blowout win
Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Westburg did his damage early, lifting a two-run blast in the first inning. He had gone 0-for-7 over the first two games of the weekend series in Cincinnati. The homer was his first since April 21 and his sixth of the year. The infielder has added a strong .286/.336/.513 slash line with 23 RBI, 18 runs scored, four steals, five doubles and two triples through 32 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:05 pm

    • Jordan Westburg homers in win over Reds
Jordan Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a win over the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Westburg jumped on Nick Lodolo in the first inning with a 378-foot home run that left the bat at 101.9 mph. It was Westburg’s sixth home run of the season to go along with 23 RBIs. It’s been a breakout month for the 25-year-old, but he’s seen his triple slash fall to .286/.336/.513 after going 6-for-28 over his last seven games. The quality of contact gains are real but Westburg is swinging and missing a lot more this season, so the batting average may continue to slip a little bit in the coming weeks. • Knocks in two runs Saturday
Toro went 2-for-5 with a two-run single and three runs in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Toro extended Oakland's lead to 9-0 in the third inning with his timely single, pushing his RBI total to 13 to draw him into a tie with JJ Bleday for third place on the Athletics. The 27-year-old has been a steady offensive presence for the surprising A's, and he's now posted four consecutive two-hit tallies as part of an eight-game hitting streak overall. • Brandon Lowe (oblique) ready for rehab assignment
Brandon Lowe (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Advice: The 29-year-old slugger has been shelved since April 9 due to a right oblique strain. Given the long layoff, he’s likely to require several games at the Triple-A level to get his timing back before he’s ready to return to a Rays’ lineup that is in desperate need of a boost. Lowe was hitting just .185/.267/.333 with a homer and four RBI in eight games before being sidelined. Rotoworld Friday, 2:24 pm

    • Starting rehab stint Tuesday
Lowe (oblique) will start his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

Advice: Lowe has been sidelined since April 7 with a strained right oblique but will get back into game action Tuesday. Until he rejoins the big-league club, Amed Rosario and Curtis Mead will continue filling in at second base. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:18 pm

    • Clubs third homer
Toro went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Getting the start at second base and batting fifth, Toro launched a second-inning Quinn Priester sinker up in the zone off the top of the wall in center field. Toro has hit safely in six straight games, and he's making a case to be an everyday player for Oakland -- through 99 plate appearances, he's slashing .264/.323/.440 with three homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs. He's played at least three games at first base, second base and third base so far in 2024 in addition to spotting in at DH, and while Ryan Noda's demotion to Triple-A after Wednesday's game likely has more to do with J.D. Davis (thigh) being nearly ready to come off the IL, it does give Toro a little less competition for playing time. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:05 am

    • Multi-hit effort in Tuesday's win
Toro went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a double and a run in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: JJ Bleday stole the spotlight for the suddenly surging Athletics with his pair of home runs, but Toro turned in a noteworthy performance while playing a bit of small ball. The 27-year-old extended his hitting streak to five games in the process, a stretch during which he's laced a trio of two-baggers and has boosted his average 39 points to .250. • Brandon Lowe (oblique) undergoes MRI
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Brandon Lowe got “pretty good” results on the MRI on his oblique.

Advice: “We’ll just kind of take it day to day, Cash told reporters. Ok. Lowe has been out of the lineup since early in April with the strain, and it doesn’t sound like there’s a concrete timetable for when the infielder will return. Curtis Mead will continue to see the majority of time at second base while Lowe is on the shelf. Rotoworld Apr 29, 4:00 pm

    • Returning after one-game absence
Westburg (illness) will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the Yankees.

Advice: Westburg sat out Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Athletics because of a stomach bug, but he's feeling well enough to return to the lineup a day later. The 25-year-old has produced a .903 OPS in 25 games for the Orioles this season. Rotowire.com Apr 29, 12:36 pm
