    • Goes the distance in victory
Keller (3-3) allowed one run, five hits and one walk in a complete game victory Monday against the Angels. He struck out five.

Advice: Keller stymied the Angels on Monday night en route to his second career complete game -- his first was a shutout May 8, 2023 against Colorado. The Pirates right-hander induced a whopping 64.0 percent groundball-rate, easily his highest in a start this season, outpacing the 37.5 percent rate he generated on the season prior to Monday. Keller is scheduled to make his next start against the Cubs at home this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:05 pm
    • Mitch Keller pitches complete game versus Angels
Mitch Keller pitched his second-career complete game on Monday and picked up his third win of the season against the Angels.

Advice: Pittsburgh’s ace went the distance on Monday as he allowed just one earned run on five hits and struck out five. His lone run came off a solo homer from Zach Neto. Keller threw 109 total pitches with 75 of them called strikes. In the final frame, Keller got Mickey Moniak and Taylor Ward to strike out and then had Willie Calhoun pop up to left center field. It was an efficient outing from the right-hander as he’ll look to improve his 4.41 ERA against the Cubs this weekend at PNC Park. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:02 pm
    • Garrett (shoulder) whiffs 13 in rehab start
Braxton Garrett (shoulder) struck out 13 batters over 5 2/3 innings in a rehab start Monday in the Florida Complex League.

Advice: Garrett didn’t allow a run and gave up just one hit. It’s really not fair to FCL hitters they had to face a talent like the 26-year-old, but the Marlins wanted Garrett to get one more rehab start. His next outing should come at the MLB level. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:30 pm

    • Strikes out 13 in rehab start
Garrett (shoulder) struck out 13 batters and allowed one hit and one walk over 5.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start Monday for the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate.

Advice: Though he was facing off against a lineup consisting mostly of teenage hitters, Garrett was dominant nonetheless in what was likely his fifth and final minor-league rehab start. Garrett, who has been on the 15-day injured list all season while recovering from a left shoulder impingement, will likely be activated this weekend to start Saturday or Sunday versus the Phillies for what will be his 2024 debut with the Marlins. • Getting one more rehab tune-up
Garrett (shoulder) is scheduled to cover around six innings or 75 pitches Monday in a rehab start with the Marlins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Garrett made the fourth start of his rehab assignment this past Wednesday with Triple-A Jacksonville and looked sharp over five scoreless innings, scattering one hit and three walks while striking out three. Since he was lifted after 61 pitches, Garrett will need one more outing in the minors to get fully stretched out for starting duty before the Marlins are comfortable bringing him back from the 15-day injured list. Assuming Monday's rehab outing in rookie ball goes smoothly, Garrett should be activated this weekend and will likely slot into the rotation either Saturday or Sunday against the Phillies. • MLB updates ruling Friday
MLB changed the official scoring on a play during Friday's game, which left Houck charged with three earned runs over six-plus innings, not four, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: A fielder's choice in the seventh inning was updated to a throwing error by catcher Reese McGuire. The ruling drops Houck's season ERA to 1.99 and gives him a sixth quality start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:21 am
    • Falls apart late
Miller didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Miller kept a clean sheet through five innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Kyle Tucker in the sixth and a two-run shot to Jon Singleton in the seventh -- a long ball that got Miller pulled. The outing marked Miller's third time allowing multiple homers this season and his three strikeouts were a season low. Through 41.1 innings, Miller owns a 2.61 ERA and a 42:13 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled for a home start against the Athletics on Saturday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:45 pm
    • Bryce Miller gives up two homers to Astros
Bryce Miller surrendered four runs in six innings Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: Jon Singleton and Kyle Tucker both hit two-run homers off Miller, but this was still hardly a disaster. He’s really been great at limiting the damage in his worse starts this season, and he’s allowed a total of two earned runs in his four good outings, leaving him with a 2.61 ERA in 41 1/3 innings to date. • Doomed by rough first inning
Irvin (2-3) was saddled with the loss Saturday versus the Blue Jays, permitting four runs (zero earned) on five hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Irvin needed 32 pitches to get through the first inning, thanks in large part due to a pair of errors committed behind him. The silver lining is all four of the runs the Jays scored in the opening frame were unearned, so he watched his ERA on the season drop from 4.28 to 3.72. Irvin mostly settled in after that but still required a season-high 107 pitches to cover his five innings. The righty has walked just eight batters in seven starts this season, showing immensely improved control after he issued free passes at a 10.2 percent clip in 2023. His next start is lined up to come in Boston. Rotowire.com Saturday, 4:20 pm
