    • Remains spotless, grabs fifth save
Yates earned a save after he pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out a batter in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Yates was called upon to protect the team's 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, working around a pair of baserunners to secure his fifth save of the season. The right-hander has now gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season while he has pitched 12 scoreless frames over his first 11 appearances in 2024. On top of the spotless ERA, Yates also owns a sparkling 0.50 WHIP with a 10.50 K/9 and he appears to be locked in as the Rangers' closer moving forward. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago

    • Kevin Gausman stifles Dodgers in win
Kevin Gausman allowed one run on five hits in seven innings in a win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Advice: Gausman also struck out five and walked nobody on the day. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but that’s to be expected against the Dodgers. Gausman allowed four extra-base hits and was only able to post a 17 percent whiff rate. He also saw his velocity down slightly on both his four-seam and splitter but nothing concerning. He continues to have some issues throwing the splitter for strikes with just a 26 percent zone rate on the pitch. Still, it’s certainly a start you’re happy with against an offense like the Dodgers. Gausman’s ERA is now down to 4.50 and he’ll get the Nationals next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm

    • Pitches through side tightness
Hicks said he experienced a bit of side tightness during his start against the Pirates on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Hicks apparently felt the tightness following the sixth inning, though he still briefly came out for the seventh before being pulled after giving up a leadoff single. The right-hander is apparently fine, but it's still worth keeping an eye on his status heading into his next turn through the rotation, which lines up for next weekend in Philadelphia. • Career-high 12 strikeouts
Kirby (3-2) earned the win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday, hurling seven shutout innings while allowing two hits and two walks. He struck out 12.

Advice: Kirby wasn't playing around Saturday, fanning six of the first eight batters he faced en route to recording a career-high 12 strikeouts on the night. The right-hander has now hurled 12 shutout innings over his last two starts while Saturday also marked the second time this season in which he's allowed only two hits. Kirby carries a 30:2 K:BB through five starts this month and has won his last two decisions. Rotowire.com Today, 7:01 am
    • Season-high nine strikeouts
Hicks did not factor into the decision against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out nine over six innings.

Advice: Hicks was in the zone Saturday, striking out the side in the first inning before going on to retire 10 of the first 12 batters he faced in the contest. He actually allowed the leadoff man to reach in four of the seven innings in which he appeared but wasn't charged with a run until the seventh, after being relieved by Luke Jackson. Hicks has now been hit with a no-decision in each of his last three starts despite holding his opponents to two or fewer runs in those outings. The right-hander also recorded a season-high nine strikeouts Saturday and did not walk a batter after issuing at least two free passes in each of his last three starts. • George Kirby strikes out career-high 12 vs. D-backs
George Kirby recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kirby authored arguably the most dominant performance of his career in this one, generating an eye-popping 23 swinging strikes -- including a staggering 18 whiffs on his four-seam fastball alone -- and finished with an elite 39 percent CSW. His fastball velocity was up 1.2 mph in this one from earlier this year to 96.4 mph and he gave up only three batted balls with an exit velocity over 91 mph over seven nearly-flawless frames. The 26-year-old righty has clearly shaken off a couple rough outings to open the year and has allowed just two runs over 18 innings in his last three starts since April 15. He’ll carry a respectable 4.18 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 38/4 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings (six starts) into a challenging road tilt on Friday against the division-rival Astros. Rotoworld Today, 4:34 am
    • Jordan Hicks posts nine strikeouts vs. Pirates
Jordan Hicks recorded a career-high nine strikeouts over six innings of one-run ball on Saturday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: Hicks was simply magnificent in this one, continuing his early-season run of success in his Giants debut, coaxing 15 swinging strikes -- including 11 whiffs on his splitter alone -- and finishing with a near-elite 35 percent CSW. The hard-throwing 27-year-old has excelled in his conversion back to a traditional starting role for San Francisco, allowing two earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts to open the year. There’s some regression looming in run-prevention department, but he’s been outstanding no matter how you slice the underlying data. He’ll carry a microscopic 1.59 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 27/10 K/BB ratio across 34 innings (six starts) into a road tilt on Friday against the Phillies. Rotoworld Today, 3:53 am

    • Set to rejoin rotation
Manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that Bradish (elbow) is poised to return from the 15-day injured list during the upcoming week and will reclaim a spot in the Baltimore rotation, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Bradish's return can't come soon enough for an Orioles rotation that remains without John Means (forearm) and Tyler Wells (elbow). The right-hander made three rehab starts while recovering from a right UCL sprain that cropped up early in the spring and forced him to the IL to begin the season. His his most recent rehab outing Friday with Triple-A Norfolk was Bradish's sharpest yet, as he struck out six while allowing one run on five hits and one walk over five innings on 77 pitches (49 strikes). Since Bradish had been pitching every fifth day during his rehab assignment, he could slot into the Baltimore rotation as soon as Wednesday, but the Orioles are more likely to give him an extra day to recover and have him take the hill for Thursday's series finale with the Yankees at Camden Yards. • Hyde: Kyle Bradish to make ’24 debut next week
Kyle Bradish (elbow) will make his next start in the majors.

Advice: Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Saturday that Bradish will return to Baltimore’s starting rotation at some point next week, presumably on Thursday against the division-rival Yankees, after striking out six over five innings on Friday in his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk. The 27-year-old righty has made a remarkably quick recovery from an offseason UCL sprain in his right elbow and should be rostered in all fantasy formats on the heels of last year’s breakthrough campaign.
