    • Doubles, scores in return to bigs
Butler, promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in a win over the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: The speedy outfielder churned out his fifth double and seventh extra-base hit overall at the big-league level this season in the fourth inning and subsequently crossed the plate on Zack Gelof's three-run home run. Butler has a path to playing time now that Seth Brown has been jettisoned from the 40-man roster, but the former must cut down on the strikeouts that plagued him during his first Athletics stint this season and eventually helped lead to his demotion. • Battling hamstring tightness
Blackmon exited Tuesday's game against the Dodgers due to right hamstring tightness, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Blackmon was seen grabbing at his hamstring while running into third base during the first inning of Tuesday's game, and he eventually had to come out of the game during the second frame. The Rockies have not offered any information regarding the severity of the 37-year-old's injury, but it's possible he sits out at least a game or two to avoid playing with any lingering soreness. • Charlie Blackmon leaves game with hamstring injury
Charlie Blackmon was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers with right hamstring tightness.

Advice: Blackmon was lifted for a pinch-hitter after going first-to-third and scoring a run in the opening frame. The 37-year-old veteran will head for some additional evaluation and testing to determine the severity of the issue. It’s within the realm of possibility he could wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:41 pm

    • Removed early Tuesday
Blackmon was removed from Tuesday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent leg injury, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Blackmon appeared to grab at his right leg while running from first to third base on a single during the first inning, and Elehuris Montero pinch hit for him during the second. The Rockies will take a look at Blackmon to determine the exact nature of his injury, and more information on his status should be available soon. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:20 pm

    • A’s officially recall Lawrence Butler on Tuesday
Athletics recalled OF Lawrence Butler from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Butler returns to Oakland’s outfield mix after slashing .255/.349/.418 with four homers and seven steals in 126 plate appearances over 27 games for Triple-A Las Vegas following a mid-May demotion. The 23-year-old is one of the most intriguing young prospects in the game from a raw talent standpoint, but holds a lackluster .570 OPS with six homers and three steals in 250 plate appearances over 83 games in the big leagues over the last two years. • Officially promoted
The Athletics recalled Butler from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Advice: Butler was sent to the minors in mid-May after slashing .179/.281/.274 through 121 major-league plate appearances. He has since improved while in Las Vegas, posting a .767 OPS over 27 games. Seth Brown was outrighted to Triple-A in a corresponding move, opening the door for Butler to receive regular playing time in Oakland's outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:10 pm
    • Goes yard for first big-league hit
Jones went 1-for-1 with a solo home run Monday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Jones was promoted to the majors June 6 and has made just one start since. However, he entered Monday's game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and tallied his first big-league hit with a solo home run. Jones will almost certainly remain a bench bat moving forward. • Swats another homer
Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Goodman made his second straight start at DH and belted a two-run blast in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old slugged two homers two days earlier while making a start at catcher. Goodman is still slashing just .195/.235/.455 of the season, but he's shown promising power with five long balls over 81 plate appearances. He'd become much more intriguing from a fantasy perspective if he logs enough games behind the plate to earn positional eligibility there. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:25 pm

    • Smacks 12th home run
De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings loss versus the Cardinals.

Advice: The 27-year-old's only hit in this game was a big one, as he tied the score at 4-4 with a three-run blast off JoJo Romero in the eighth inning. De La Cruz is already up to 12 homers in 2024 after he totaled 19 long balls in 153 games last year. The power production helps offset De La Cruz's underwhelming .242/.295/.416 slash line.
