    • Andre Pallante gives up two runs in brief outing
Andre Pallante was charged with two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Pallante turned in a perfect opening frame before engineering a masterful escape after giving up back-to-back hits to open the second inning. He got into trouble in the fourth inning after giving up consecutive hits to open the frame and was lifted for reliever Chris Roycroft after striking out Ian Happ and wound up being charged with a pair of runs following his departure. He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old righty figures to continue operating in a swingman-type role for the Cardinals moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 1:50 pm

    • Josiah Gray (elbow) to need two more rehab starts
Nationals’ manager Dave Martinez told reporters on Saturday that Josiah Gray (elbow) will require two more minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to rejoin the team’s rotation.

Advice: Gray made a rehab start at Double-A Harrisburg on Friday where he allowed just one run over four innings of work — throwing 41 pitches (27 strikes) in the session. He’ll go five innings his next time out and then will get to around 90 pitches or six innings in his final rehab start before he’s cleared to return. The 26-year-old hurler has been shelved for nearly two months now due to a flexor strain in his elbow. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm

    • Outrighted to Triple-A
Martin cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Martin was designated for assignment by Baltimore, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he'll remain at Triple-A. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.45 ERA and 2.61 WHIP over 9.2 innings in eight appearances with Norfolk this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:45 pm

    • Orioles outright Corbin Martin to Triple-A
Orioles sent RHP Corbin Martin outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Martin was claimed off waivers last month from the Brewers and has yet to make an appearance for Baltimore. The procedural move opens up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 12:43 pm

    • Likely moving into rotation
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after Friday's loss to the Cardinals that Hendricks is likely to take Jordan Wicks' (oblique) spot in the rotation, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Advice: Hendricks came on in relief for the injured Wicks in the second inning Friday and tossed 4.1 scoreless frames. The veteran right-hander has been disastrous on the whole this season with an 8.20 ERA, but he hasn't been scored upon over his last 8.2 innings out of the bullpen. Hendricks would tentatively be lined up to start Wednesday at home versus the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 10:47 am

    • IL move made official
The Cubs placed Wicks on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right oblique strain, Taylor McGregor reports.

Advice: Wicks had to be pulled from Friday's start against the Cardinals in the second inning due to the injury. It's unclear what grade the strain is, so it's difficult to project a return date. Typically, even low-grade oblique strains result in absences beyond the minimum 15 days. Kyle Hendricks will slide into Wicks' rotation spot. Rotowire.com Today, 10:31 am

    • Cubs put Jordan Wicks (oblique) on 15-day IL
Cubs placed LHP Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Advice: Wicks suffered the injury during Friday’s start against the Cardinals and is likely to wind up missing at least a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario. It’ll probably be Kyle Hendricks taking his spot in Chicago’s starting rotation since they don’t really have a ton of alternatives at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 10:27 am

    • Looks sharp Friday
Hendricks tossed 4.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Jordan Hicks departed after just 1.2 innings due to an oblique injury, which pushed Hendricks into action. The veteran responded well and had perhaps his best outing of the season, giving the Cubs some much-needed length out of the bullpen. While Hendricks still has an ugly 8.20 ERA overall, he's been better lately with 8.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. The veteran is the most likely candidate to move into the rotation with Wicks expected to land on the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:38 pm

    • Jordan Wicks (oblique) expected to land on IL
Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell admitted after Friday’s loss to the Cardinals that Jordan Wicks will likely land on the 15-day injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered on Friday.

Advice: Wicks was pulled from his outing against the Cardinals after just 1 2/3 innings after sustaining the injury. Kyle Hendricks did a nice job in relief of him on Friday and he seems like the most logical candidate to replace Wicks in the Cubs’ rotation. As always, he makes for an unappealing option for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:13 pm
