    • Has positive follow-up exam
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) had a follow-up exam with Reds doctors Wednesday that showed he is ready to take the next step in his rehab progression, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: While that's good news for Encarnacion-Strand, who was diagnosed with a right ulnar styloid fracture May 8, he opted to get a second opinion. That puts on hold the next step in his rehab. At the time of his diagnosis, Encarnacion-Strand was given a four-to-six week timeline. Rotowire.com Today, 4:51 am
    • Notches two steals in win
Doyle went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run scored in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Doyle's only involvement Wednesday was as a pinch runner, and he was caught stealing. He checked back into the lineup and swiped two bags Thursday, giving him 16 thefts on 19 attempts this season with his first successful steals since May 26. The outfielder continues to put together a decent season with a .265/.339/.408 slash line, five home runs, 16 RBI, 37 runs scored, 11 doubles and two triples over 239 plate appearances. • Doyle scores run, steals two bases in win
Brenton Doyle went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: The two steals give Doyle a total of 16 on the season. Heā€™s hitting .265 with five home runs, but the speed gives him a decent amount of value in fantasy. Doyle is hitting .337 at Coors Field this year compared to just .203 on the road. He has more value in formats where managers are able to maximize his home games while limiting his road games in their lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:54 pm
    • Oneil Cruz homers, steals base against Dodgers
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and also stole a base on Thursday in the Piratesā€™ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Cruz started his professional career with Los Angeles before being traded to the Pirates back in 2017 and came back to haunt his former club in this one with a three-run homer off Dodgers closer Evan Phillips in the eighth inning. It was his eighth round-tripper of the season and he also picked up his fifth steal of the year in this one. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:53 pm

    • Evan Phillips allows three runs in non-save spot
Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didnā€™t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesnā€™t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:51 pm
    • Schumaker: Max Meyer returning to majors ā€˜soonā€™
Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said this week in an interview with Fish on First that he expects Max Meyer to return to the majors soon.

Advice: Schumaker added that Meyerā€™s recent starts for Triple-A Jacksonville have been ā€œoutstandingā€ and added that heā€™ll be back up soon. The 25-year-old top prospect opened the year in Miamiā€™s starting rotation due to injuries, delivering a phenomenal three-start run in early April before being demoted to the minors in an effort to manage his workload. He struck out seven batters and allowed three runs over four innings last Friday in his most recent outing for Triple-A Jacksonville and itā€™s not unthinkable that he could be back in the majors at some point in the coming days, especially now that Edward Cabrera (shoulder) is back on the injured list. • CES (wrist) set to resume baseball activities
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but itā€™s possible heā€™s back before next monthā€™s All-Star break. • Expected back in majors soon
Meyer will make another start at Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, but Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said he expects the young right-hander to be back in the majors "soon," Nate Karzmer of Fish on First reports.

Advice: Schumaker made the statement earlier this week during an interview on the Fish Unfiltered podcast. The Marlins have an opening in their rotation Saturday against the Guardians, but that's expected to go to Roddery Munoz while Meyer makes his scheduled start Friday with Jacksonville. The 22-year-old Meyer struggled initially upon his workload-related demotion to Jacksonville back in April, but he's been better of late with a 17:4 K:BB in 11 innings covering his last three starts. Meyer hasn't gone more than four innings in any outing since the demotion as the Marlins rein in his workload in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. His starts could continue to be abbreviated when he rejoins the big club, but it does sound like Meyer will be back in the majors sooner rather than later. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:57 pm

    • Henry Davis improved against velocity in demotion
According to MLB.comā€™s Alex Stumpf, after Henry Davisā€™ demotion in early May, he prioritized hitting against higher velocity and reacting more than thinking.

Advice: Davis was a trendy fantasy sleeper in the spring but he had a really rough start to the season, hitting .162/.280/.206 slash line with zero homers, four RBI, zero stolen bases, and a 29/11 K/BB ratio over 83 plate appearances. According to Stumpf, the first thing Davis did after was go ā€œto the fastball machine and turned it up as high as it could go. For three days before his assignment to Indianapolis started Davis swung there.ā€ The idea was to combat Davisā€™ self-described issue with over-thinking in the batterā€™s box. ā€œPeople talk about how the speed of the game speeds up, but the second I did that without thinking about anything, it went back to what Iā€™ve done my whole life, my whole career.ā€ Davis performed well in Triple-A, hitting .296 with seven home runs and a 1.078 OPS over 101 plate appearances, and will hope to carry it over into his current big league stint.
