Neris (3-0) picked up the win Sunday against the Pirates, allowing two hits and one walk over a scoreless inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Neris took the mound in the top of the ninth during a 2-2 ballgame and fired off a scoreless inning, eventually earning the win after the Cubs put up three runs in the 10th. Since taking over closing duties from Adbert Alzolay, Neris has converted all six of his save chances and has earned a pair of wins. Over his last nine appearances, Neris owns a 2.00 ERA and a 7:7 K:BB in 9.0 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
    • Another quality start Sunday
Flaherty (0-3) was tagged with a loss Sunday after he pitched 6.2 innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in a 9-3 defeat to Houston.

Advice: Flaherty opened Sunday's contest by firing five scoreless innings before Kyle Tucker launched a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. The Astros scratched across another run on him in the seventh frame before the right-hander's day came to an end with two outs in the inning. The performance marked his third straight quality start and sixth of the season over eight outings. Flaherty now owns a 3.88 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 48.2 innings in eight starts in 2024 and will look to earn his first win of the year in his next projected start Saturday on the road in Arizona. • Jack Flaherty slips to 0-3 after quality start
Jack Flaherty yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Still no breaks at all for Flaherty, who is 0-3 in spite of a 3.88 ERA. He really should have given up just two runs today, but Joey Wentz allowed an inherited runner to score from first after coming on with two outs against the bottom of the Astros lineup in the seventh. Flaherty has six quality starts in eight tries this season. Last year, he totaled eight in 27 starts for the Cardinals and Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:03 pm
    • Hayden Wesneski making move to bullpen
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporter that Hayden Wesneski will be available out of the bullpen for the upcoming series against Atlanta.

Advice: The Cubs will start Shota Imanaga and Jameson Taillon against Atlanta on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and a starter for Wednesday’s game hasn’t been announced. Wesneski has pitched well in his last three starts with a 2.20 ERA, but for now, he’s going to operate out of the bullpen which severely limits his fantasy potential. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:23 am
    • Heads to bullpen
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that Wesneski has been moved to the bullpen, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Counsell noted that Wesneski will work out of the bullpen for the Cubs' upcoming turn through the rotation, so it's possible that the right-hander could still move back into a starting role at some point later this month. For now, however, Wesneski will likely need the Cubs to lose another starter to injury, or for a rainout or a busy portion of the schedule to create a need for a temporary sixth starter. Wesneski had made each of his past three appearances for the Cubs as a starter, going 0-1 with a 2.20 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 16.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:12 am
    • Hurls six shutout innings in win
Paxton (5-0) earned the win over the Padres on Saturday, pitching six shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out four.

Advice: Paxton never found himself in any serious trouble throughout the contest, allowing only one extra-base hit as the Dodgers cruised to a shutout win. The veteran lefty threw 15 of 22 first pitches for strikes and produced 10 whiffs on the night en route to earning his fifth win of the campaign. Paxton has allowed one run or fewer in back-to-back starts and in four of his seven outings this season. Saturday also marked his first start this season in which he didn't issue a walk. • Big Maple silences Padres to collect fifth win
James Paxton fired six shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Padres.

Advice: Paxton continues to excel in his Los Angeles debut, reeling off six scoreless frames to stun the division-rival Padres at Petco Park. He finished with four strikeouts, didn’t hand out a free pass, and allowed just six batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw has managed to stay healthy so far, and has been an impact fantasy contributor, despite a steep decline in strikeout percentage. He’s overdue for some regression in the run-prevention department, but he’s been effective so far. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 22/24 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Reds. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:05 am

    • Can't keep ball in park Saturday
Steele escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates, surrendering six runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Making just his third start of the season after missing all of April with a hamstring strain, Steele served up homers to Connor Joe and Oneil Cruz in the third inning and Michael Taylor in the fourth, but he got taken off the hook for the loss thanks to a seven-run fifth by the Cubs. Steele has yet to complete five innings in an outing and threw just 74 pitches (53 strikes) Saturday, but he should begin to get stretched out more as he puts the injury further behind him. Steele will take a 4.73 ERA and 11:4 K:BB through 13.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to be a rematch with the Pirates back in Wrigley Field next week. • Stumbles in second start
Means escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: The southpaw got tagged for two runs in the third and fifth innings, but the Orioles scored in the eighth to tie up the game and take Means off the hook for his first loss before eventually walking it off in the 11th. He tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and he has a 3.09 ERA and 11:0 K:BB through his first 11.2 innings on the year. Means will look to sharpen things up on his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Mariners. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:56 pm
