    • Cal Raleigh homers, steals base in loss to Rays
Cal Raleigh belted a solo homer and also stole a base on Monday in the Mariners’ loss to the Rays.

Advice: The aptly named “Big Dumper” isn’t exactly known for his stolen base prowess, but he’s flashes strong instincts on the bases throughout his career, and is now up to three thefts on the year. He connected for a fourth-inning solo shot off Rays starter Taj Bradley for his 13th long ball of the year. It was the first time he’s left the yard since June 10, snapping a 12-game homerless drought in the process. Rotoworld Monday, 7:42 pm

    • Oneil Cruz homers, drives in three in losing effort
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Monday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Reds.

Advice: Cruz was one of the few bright spots for Pittsburgh in this one as he drove in a run with a fifth-inning ground out before slugging a gargantuan 458-foot moonshot — his 11th big fly of the season — a couple frames later off Reds reliever Fernando Cruz. The 25-year-old shortstop has been scuffling at the dish in recent weeks, batting .216 (25-for-116) with four homers and three steals over his last 30 games. He’s also struck out a whopping 40 times during that span. The flashes of dynamic game-changing talent are still there on occasion, but Cruz remains a bit of a work in progress at the moment. • Heston Kjerstad collects two hits, doubles in loss
Heston Kjerstad went 2-for-4 with a double on Monday in the Orioles’ loss to the Guardians.

Advice: It’s time for Baltimore to figure out what they have with Kjerstad in an everyday role at this juncture since he literally has nothing left to prove at Triple-A Norfolk. The 25-year-old figures to get an opportunity to play most days against right-handed pitching in a corner outfield or designated hitter role and his minor-league track record suggests he’s going to hit for some over-the-fence pop. There might be an adjustment period here as he acclimates to facing high-level pitching everyday, but he’s one of the more talented hitting prospects in the game. It feels like only a matter of time before he’s an impact four-category fantasy contributor in the heart of Baltimore’s sublime young nucleus. Rotoworld Monday, 6:27 pm

    • Maikel Garcia leads off, shifts to second base
Maikel Garcia is back in the leadoff spot and playing second base for the Royals on Monday.

Advice: It’s the first time Garcia has played anywhere other third this year, but the Royals just called up a third baseman in CJ Alexander and have Michael Massey apparently limited to DH at the moment. As a result, Garcia will get to show his versatility. The return to the leadoff spot is also good news; he had led off throughout the season before being dropped to seventh on Saturday and eighth on Sunday. Considering that he has a .291 OBP, there’s no blaming the Royals for making the switch. Still, he remains a better bet than the alternative options to bat ahead of Bobby Witt Jr. Rotoworld Monday, 2:07 pm

    • Red Sox call up Josh Winckowski from AAA
Red Sox recalled RHP Josh Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: The Red Sox have used Winckowski mostly out of the bullpen this season, but he started in six of his seven appearances at Triple-A while posting a 2.87 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 19/11 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 innings. He will likely return to a multi-inning relief role for the Red Sox. Brad Keller was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 12:19 pm

    • Bumped up from Triple-A
The Red Sox recalled Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Winckowski will give the Red Sox a fresh arm in the bullpen who's capable of covering multiple innings. Boston was in need of some reinforcement in the bullpen after the team leaned on eight relievers to cover all nine innings of Sunday's 7-4 win over the Reds. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:19 pm

    • Loses hold of leadoff gig
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a base hit in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Garcia had made each of his first 74 starts of the season as the Royals' leadoff hitter, but he was dropped down to seventh and eighth in the batting order over the final two games of the weekend in Texas. His slide down the lineup comes while he's mustered a .152/.221/.177 slash line over 20 games thus far in June. The Royals haven't yet settled on a replacement for Garcia atop the lineup, as both Adam Frazier (thumb) and Nick Loftin received turns in the leadoff spot to close out the weekend. • Orioles officially promote Kjerstad from AAA
Orioles recalled 1B/OF Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: The rumored move is now official, as the Orioles promote Kjerstad - again - after hitting .301/.390/.601 with 16 homers, 58 RBI, and a pair of stolen bases in 55 games. The bad news for fantasy managers is that the Orioles did not demote Colton Cowser in a corresponding move, meaning the team would need to decide to sit Cowser on the bench and not give him at-bats for Kjerstad to see regular playing time. It would seem to make no sense for one of Kjerstad or Cowser to sit on a major league bench and not play regularly but that might be the situation we’re heading towards. Or they will both split time often enough that each of their fantasy values will take a considerable hit. We’ll have to see how it plays out this week before knowing for sure. • Swipes sixth bag
Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Cruz made plenty of highlights Saturday by blasting a home run into the Allegheny River, but he's slumped with only two hits across 19 at-bats during Pittsburgh's current homestand. He did manage to tally his sixth stolen base of the season Sunday, his first since returning from ankle soreness that caused him to miss games on June 14th and 15th. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:38 am
