    • Kirby Yates whiffs three in save against Dodgers
      Kirby Yates struck out three in a scoreless ninth to get a save against the Dodgers on Thursday.

      Advice: Yates did allow a walk, but this was a much better effort than the one he had Wednesday when he picked up a save but was fortunate to not blow the opportunity. The right-hander has been outstanding for the overwhelming majority of 2024, and this scoreless outing gives him a 1.11 ERA along with 10 saves. He isnā€™t giving up this closing gig.       Schwarber went 3-for-4 with three RBI in a 9-3 loss to the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: Schwarber singled in the first inning then got the Phillies on the board with a three-run double in the fourth. He later added another single in the seventh and walked in the ninth. Schwarber is riding a six-game hit streak that includes three multi-hit games, two home runs and five RBI.       Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three RBI against the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: Schwarber cleared the bases with a three-run double to pull the Phillies within a run in the second inning. However, those would be the only runs Philadelphia would score on the night.       Steele did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Steele cruised through five innings then ran into some trouble in the sixth, but he escaped a bases loaded-jam and departed with a 2-0 lead at 93 total pitches. Steele earned his third quality start in his past four outings, but he is still winless on the season after the bullpen allowed three runs. Despite the tough luck, Steele's 3.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through nine starts are actually lower than his ratios last season, when he finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting.     • Scott blows second save against Mets Thursday
      Tanner Scott allowed two runs and blew the save against the Mets on Thursday.

      Advice: Scott came into the ninth inning with a one-run lead on the road. He walked Francisco Lindor before striking out Brandon Nimmo. Then J.D. Martinez got him for a walk-off two-run home run. It was just his second blown save of the season. His last blown save was on April 14th against Atlanta. Scottā€™s ERA is now 1.93.     • Steele tosses six scoreless in no-decision
      Justin Steele threw six shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Thursday.



      Advice: Steele gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. He was in line for his first win of the season before the bullpen blew the lead. Steele lowered his ERA to 3.22 with the effort. After missing all of April due to injury, heā€™s now completed at least five innings and had at least five strikeouts in six consecutive starts. Steele finished fifth in the National League Cy Young award voting last year and appears to have regained that form this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Giants at home next week.

      Cruz went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: The 25-year-old shortstop tied up the game with a two-run single off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning, but that finished the scoring for Pittsburgh. Cruz now has eight RBI over his last seven games, and his batting average in June is a solid .286.       Keller (8-4) was charged with the loss after he allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over six innings Thursday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Keller's four earned runs allowed tied for a season high, but he still managed to extend a streak of seven straight starts of at least six innings. He gave up a homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan, making it the first time this season he's allowed multiple long balls in a game.
