    • Brenton Doyle homers twice to lead Rockies
Brenton Doyle homered twice, doubled and walked Monday as the Rockies edged the Brewers 8-7 in 10 innings.

Advice: Doyle’s second homer tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder was dropped from second to seventh in the Rockies lineup before the game, presumably because he’d hit .200/.225/.292 in his previous 16 games. The two homers gave him nine or the year, and he also swiped his 20th base. We’re not big believers in Doyle’s offense from an OPS standpoint, but with Coors Field helping him along, he likely will have lasting value in mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Garrett Mitchell reaches twice in 2024 debut
Garrett Mitchell singled and walked in three plate appearances off the bench in his season debut Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: The single was hit 108 mph, so this was definitely a nice start for Mitchell. It’ll take consistent playing time to make him a factor in mixed leagues, so he’s probably not an option right now. He offers plenty of upside, though. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Monster performance in win
Doyle went 3-for-4 with two homers, a steal, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Doyle opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. The Colorado center fielder then cracked a solo shot in the eighth to tie the game at 7-7. Doyle also added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI. • Not in lineup versus southpaw
Mitchell is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Colorado.

Advice: Mitchell was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier Monday but will begin his first game back on the bench. It's not a surprise, as the Rockies are starting lefty Austin Gomber, and most of the playing time for the left-handed hitting Mitchell figures to come versus righties. • Brenton Doyle dropped to seventh in Rockies lineup
Brenton Doyle has been dropped to seventh in the Rockies lineup on Monday.

Advice: Doyle last hit lower than second on June 10, but this seems appropriate. Doyle has batted just .200/.225/.292 since that date. The Rockies have moved everyone who was batting below Doyle up one spot tonight, with Ezequiel Tovar reclaiming the second spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:41 pm

    • Nightengale: Rival execs say Alonso is staying put
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, rival team execs believe it’s more likely that Pete Alonso is not traded at the deadline.

Advice: Nightengale mentioned that “rival teams who have expressed interest” in Alonso are “convinced” he will “definitely stay put as long as the Mets are within five games of the wild-card race.” As of now, the Mets are just two games back and are 12-4 over their last 16 games. If the Mets do keep Alonso beyond the trade deadline, they will need to then decide how badly they want to extend him, but it would take one of the biggest power bats off the trade block this season. • Brewers officially activate Garrett Mitchell
Brewers activated OF Garrett Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day IL.

Advice: Mitchell was set to be the Brewers’ starting center fielder before fracturing a finger in spring training. In 12 games at Triple-A during his rehab stint, he hit .318 with four home runs and four steals. He has the power/speed to produce solid fantasy results while hitting in a good lineup in a good home park. He should be added in most formats. Tyler Black was sent down in a corresponding move. • Reinstated from paternity leave
The Orioles activated Burnes (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Advice: Burnes was away from the club for the final three games of its weekend series against the Rangers while tending to more important family matters. He's tentatively slated to make his next start Wednesday in Seattle, though that hasn't yet been confirmed. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 am
    • Activated from 60-day IL
The Brewers activated Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Mitchell will be making his season debut once he gets into a game after missing the first three months of the season with a fractured finger. He slashed .318/.404/.636 with four home runs and four stolen bases over 12 rehab games with Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old will join a crowded Milwaukee outfield that already features Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:43 am
