    • Struggles in spot start
Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss against Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

Advice: It certainly wasn't an ideal matchup for Lucchesi to make his first start of the season, and he didn't do himself any favors in issuing four free passes. Three of the walks came in the fifth frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The left-hander was also tormented by Bryce Harper, who hit a solo homer against him in the first inning and then sent him to the showers with a two-run double in the fifth. Lucchesi may return to the minors in short order with Tylor Megill (shoulder) expected to rejoin New York's rotation Sunday or Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
    • Belts first big-league long ball
Beck went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five total RBI in an 8-0 win against the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: Beck came into Wednesday batting .191 with a 42.6 percent strikeout rate, but he was showing signs of breaking out with a four-game hitting streak while recording his first career RBI in his most recent contest. The 23-year-old may have announced his arrival with Wednesday's huge performance, during which he finished a triple short of a cycle. Beck doubled home two runs in the second inning, swatted a two-run homer in the sixth and added an RBI single in the eighth. The homer was his first as a major-leaguer, though he's flashed plenty of power in the minors, racking up 33 long balls across 177 contests since being drafted in 2022. • Breaks into win column
Gomber (1-2) earned the win against San Diego on Wednesday, pitching six scoreless innings during which he allowed two hits and walked two batters while striking out five.

Advice: The only two hits Gomber allowed were singles that the Padres couldn't cash in. The southpaw completed six innings for the fourth straight game and notched his third consecutive quality start. Wednesday's victory was his first of the campaign, but it was overdue based on how he's been pitching of late. Over his past three outings, Gomber has allowed just one earned run across 18.2 frames despite a mediocre 13:6 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:01 pm
    • Triples, steals base in win
Crow-Armstrong went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta. He also stole a base.

Advice: Crow-Armstrong continues to show off his speed, as he recorded his first triple and fourth stolen base across 21 games this season. The 22-year-old is in a crowded outfield with the likes of Ian Happ, Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki all healthy and commanding regular playing time. However, Crow-Armstrong has plenty of talent, and his future outlook is bright even if he mostly serves as a reserve in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:43 pm
    • Joey Lucchesi falls apart in Philadelphia
Joey Lucchesi allowed five earned runs on five hits in 4 ⅓ innings in a loss Wednesday in Philadelphia. He also walked four and struck out just two.

Advice: Lucchesi was recalled for the spot-start in this one as the Mets transitioned to a six-man rotation. He was cruising until a disastrous fifth inning in which he walked three before the Phillies opened the flood gates. It’s unlikely Lucchesi gets another turn in the rotation after this start with Tylor Megill due back soon and Adrian Houser supposedly returning to a starting role. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:45 pm
    • Picks up first win
Thompson (1-1) recorded Wednesday's win over Cincinnati, allowing one hit and striking out one over a scoreless eighth inning.

Advice: Thompson, who made an eighth consecutive scoreless appearance, has been the Diamondbacks' best reliever through the first month-and-a-half. The side-arming right-hander sports a 1.00 ERA with just two walks while striking out 13 over 18 innings. He leads the team with six holds. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:20 pm
    • Gets little help in loss
Corbin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 2-0 by the White Sox. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: The veteran southpaw wasn't fooling anyone as he managed only five swinging strikes on 82 pitches, but Corbin was able to minimize the damage against him, coming one out short of his second quality start of the season. He'll take a 5.59 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:48 pm
    • Jordan Beck launches first home run in victory
Jordan Beck launched the first home run of his big league career and drove in five runs on Wednesday as the Rockies slaughtered the Padres 8-0 in San Diego.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder smacked a two-run double off of Michael King in the third inning that increased the Rockies’ early advantage to 3-0. He then clobbered a 382-foot (104.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Jeremiah Estrada in the sixth inning that made it a 7-0 ballgame. Beck also tacked on an RBI single in the eighth inning, finishing the day 3-for-4. The rookie outfielder is now hitting .235/.235/.333 with a homer, six RBI and one stolen base through his first 15 games with the Rockies. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:55 pm
    • Austin Gomber fires six scoreless in win over Pads
Austin Gomber delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Padres, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Gomber racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. Both of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles and the Padres never really threatened against him. The 30-year-old hurler got seven swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day — three of those on his heater — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.02 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 35/17 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics in Oakland.
