    • Two hits in return to majors
Vientos went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Called back up form Triple-A Syracuse earlier in the day, Vientos got the start at third base against lefty Ranger Suarez and made an immediate impact, driving home Francisco Lindor with a first-inning double. Vientos' time in the majors could last a little longer this time after he was up for about a week in late April, but the 24-year-old could still see limited action and is expected to serve mainly as a short-side platoon option at the hot corner behind Brett Baty. Through 31 games at Triple-A this year, Vientos is slashing .284/.376/.500 with six homers and 30 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 8:14 am

    • Homers Wednesday
Ortiz went 2-for-2 with a solo homer, two walks and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Ortiz is now 5-for-10 with three extra-base hits and a .615 OBP over his last three games while securing the everyday third-base job in Milwaukee. Overall, the 25-year-old Ortiz is slashing .277/.384/.511 with four homers, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base through 37 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 am

    • Pops homer in loss
Espinal went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Epsinal cracked his second home run of the season in the fifth inning and has hit safely in five straight games, going 6-for-15. The infielder is playing more than originally projected, filling in at second base for Matt McLain (shoulder) or third for Noelvi Marte (suspension), but Espinal's .200 average and .536 OPS are not enticing. • Three-hit effort in win
Madrigal went 3-for-4 in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: All three hits were singles as Madrigal earned his fourth multi-hit effort in 39 contests this season. The infielder is slashing .234/.300/.281 with no home runs, nine RBI, four runs scored and one stolen base over 69 plate appearances. Madrigal had been limited to a bench role for much of the season, but he's receiving more playing time while Dansby Swanson (knee) is on the injured list and Nico Hoerner (hamstring) is out of the lineup. • Playing time picking up
Mastrobuoni will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: With Dansby Swanson (knee) recently going on the injured list and with Nico Hoerner (hamstring) out of the lineup for the second day in a row, Mastrobuoni has been the main beneficiary from a playing-time perspective. He'll draw his fifth start in seven games Wednesday and could continue to see fairly steady playing time in the middle infield even if Hoerner avoids a trip to the IL. • Gets third straight start
Cave will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Padres, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Cave will start in right field for the Rockies' third straight matchup with a right-handed starting pitcher and looks to have supplanted Sean Bouchard as the primary option at that position. Despite the uptick in playing time, Cave will likely soon be headed for a reserve role with Kris Bryant (back) trending toward a return from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend. • Goodman, Bouchard again sitting for Rockies
Hunter Goodman and Sean Bouchard are both on the bench for a third straight game Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: The Rockies won the first two games of the series with Elehuris Montero at first and Jake Cave in right, so they’re not changing anything today. The handling of Goodman, one of the team’s best prospects, has been bizarre; he’s started just six of 19 games since his callup. One imagines he’ll be sent down soon. Bouchard, who has 160 points of OPS on Cave, had started seven straight games before taking a seat Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:38 am

    • Sitting against lefty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: He finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row while the Brewers bring southpaw Robert Gasser to the hill. The lefty-hitting Tellez will give way to the right-handed-hitting Connor Joe at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:04 am

    • Brewers demote Oliver Dunn to Triple-A
Brewers optioned INF Oliver Dunn to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Dunn got some time as the Brewers’ leadoff man last month, but he wound up hitting a modest .226/.278/.333 in 90 plate appearances during his first stint in the majors. There’s still some hope for him as a platoon option at second or third, but he needs to shed some strikeouts; he had a 39% K rate his first time around the league. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:42 am
