    • Stays in rotation
Blach is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Giants in San Francisco,

Advice: He'll be awarded a second consecutive turn through the rotation after he limited the Rangers to one run on seven hits and no walks over five innings en route to grabbing his first win of the season in his last start Sunday. With Kyle Freeland's (elbow) return from the 15-day injured list not considered imminent, Blach should have a fair amount of security in the rotation. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago

    • Rocked at Triple-A
Phillips allowed four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Advice: Phillips is getting rocked in the International League, logging an 8.29 ERA and 2.08 WHIP with as many walks (28) as strikeouts through eight starts. The right-hander, who made his MLB debut last season when the Reds suffered injuries to starters, pitched credibly during Cactus League action, but Phillips is struggling to throw strikes at Triple-A -- he has a 7.1 BB/9 in 19 career outings for the Bats. It doesn't look he's in a position at this stage to help the parent club if the Reds need a rotation fill-in. Rotowire.com Today, 5:17 am
    • Dealing with back tightness
Walker was unavailable for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers due to back tightness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Walker last pitched Sunday, allowing one run on four hits over one inning while taking a blown save versus the Reds, so it's possible he's been dealing with the issue for a while. For now, the right-hander can be considered day-to-day. The Giants are off Thursday before beginning a three-game series at home versus the Rockies on Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:39 pm

    • Struggles in spot start
Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss against Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

Advice: It certainly wasn't an ideal matchup for Lucchesi to make his first start of the season, and he didn't do himself any favors in issuing four free passes. Three of the walks came in the fifth frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The left-hander was also tormented by Bryce Harper, who hit a solo homer against him in the first inning and then sent him to the showers with a two-run double in the fifth. Lucchesi may return to the minors in short order with Tylor Megill (shoulder) expected to rejoin New York's rotation Sunday or Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
    • Breaks into win column
Gomber (1-2) earned the win against San Diego on Wednesday, pitching six scoreless innings during which he allowed two hits and walked two batters while striking out five.

Advice: The only two hits Gomber allowed were singles that the Padres couldn't cash in. The southpaw completed six innings for the fourth straight game and notched his third consecutive quality start. Wednesday's victory was his first of the campaign, but it was overdue based on how he's been pitching of late. Over his past three outings, Gomber has allowed just one earned run across 18.2 frames despite a mediocre 13:6 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:01 pm
    • Joey Lucchesi falls apart in Philadelphia
Joey Lucchesi allowed five earned runs on five hits in 4 ⅓ innings in a loss Wednesday in Philadelphia. He also walked four and struck out just two.

Advice: Lucchesi was recalled for the spot-start in this one as the Mets transitioned to a six-man rotation. He was cruising until a disastrous fifth inning in which he walked three before the Phillies opened the flood gates. It’s unlikely Lucchesi gets another turn in the rotation after this start with Tylor Megill due back soon and Adrian Houser supposedly returning to a starting role. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:45 pm
    • Gets little help in loss
Corbin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 2-0 by the White Sox. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: The veteran southpaw wasn't fooling anyone as he managed only five swinging strikes on 82 pitches, but Corbin was able to minimize the damage against him, coming one out short of his second quality start of the season. He'll take a 5.59 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:48 pm
    • Austin Gomber fires six scoreless in win over Pads
Austin Gomber delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Padres, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Gomber racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. Both of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles and the Padres never really threatened against him. The 30-year-old hurler got seven swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day — three of those on his heater — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.02 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 35/17 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics in Oakland. • Improves to 2-0
Gasser (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Pirates, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Gasser was solid in his second big-league outing, allowing just one run in the third inning while the Brewers exploded for 10 runs in a convincing victory. The 24-year-old southpaw has allowed just one run through 11 innings in his first two starts after posting a 5.25 ERA in three outings with Triple-A Nashville. Gasser figures to stick in Milwaukee's rotation while DL Hall (knee) is sidelined. The former is currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:38 pm
