• Back in majors
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old had a one-day stint in the majors in late April but didn't see game action. Daniel made three appearances for the Angels last season and posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:05 pm

  • Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Garrett for assignment Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Garrett will be pushed off the 40-man roster as Davis Daniel comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Garrett's place in the Angels' bullpen. Since joining the active roster in late April, the 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs while striking out 11 batters through 5.1 innings across six appearances. He's performed well in the minors this year and found a good amount of success last season with the Royals, so it's possible he draws interest from other teams on the waiver wire. • Austin Gomber fires six scoreless in win over Pads
Austin Gomber delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Padres, allowing just two hits over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Gomber racked up five strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. Both of the hits that he allowed in the contest were singles and the Padres never really threatened against him. The 30-year-old hurler got seven swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day — three of those on his heater — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.02 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 35/17 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics in Oakland. • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts). He’ll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 3:52 pm

  • Improves to 2-0
Gasser (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Pirates, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Gasser was solid in his second big-league outing, allowing just one run in the third inning while the Brewers exploded for 10 runs in a convincing victory. The 24-year-old southpaw has allowed just one run through 11 innings in his first two starts after posting a 5.25 ERA in three outings with Triple-A Nashville. Gasser figures to stick in Milwaukee's rotation while DL Hall (knee) is sidelined. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start. Rotowire.com Today, 3:38 pm

  • Done in by long ball
Perez (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing nine runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: All nine of Milwaukee's runs against Perez came via home run -- the left-hander gave up a career-high five long balls after not allowing more than one in any of his first eight starts this year. It was a brutal day for the veteran left-hander, whose ERA is up to 4.86 with a 1.50 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 50 innings this season. Perez will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently slated for early next week at home versus San Francisco. Rotowire.com Today, 3:20 pm

  • Falls to Miami
Mize (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Jazz Chisholm led off the game with a base hit before Bryan De La Cruz smacked a two-run homer off Mize. The right-hander would proceed to blank the Marlins over his subsequent five innings, allowing just one additional hit, though the Tigers' offense couldn't provide any support in an eventual 2-0 defeat. It's the fourth quality start of the season for Mize, who's allowed just three runs on seven hits over 12 innings in his last two outings. He sports a 3.50 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB across eight starts (43.2 innings) this year. Mize is currently in line for a road matchup with the Royals in his next outing. • Paul Sewald quiets Reds to collect second save
Paul Sewald tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Reds to collect his second save of the season.

Advice: Sewald got the call to protect a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. put Arizona ahead in the top of the frame with a two-out RBI double. He got Mike Ford to ground out before coaxing a harmless pop up from Spencer Steer and a fly out from Jeimer Candelario to end the contest. The 33-year-old veteran stopper has converted both of his save chances to go along with a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 4/1 K/BB ratio across four innings (four appearances) since returning from the injured list back on May 7. • Casey Mize strikes out six in loss to Marlins
Casey Mize surrendered two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Mize served up a two-run homer to Bryan De La Cruz in the opening frame, which wound up being enough to saddle him with a loss in this one as Detroit’s offense was shut out by Trevor Rogers and a quartet of Miami relievers. He struck out six and only handed out one free pass. The 27-year-old former top prospect will bring a strong 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 32/10 K/BB ratio across 43 2/3 innings (eight starts) into a favorable road matchup on Tuesday agains the Royals.
