• Placed on IL with oblique strain
The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain.

Advice: Muncy last played Wednesday against the Giants and was left out of the starting lineup Thursday against the Reds. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Muncy sustained a Grade 1 right oblique strain during batting practice before Thursday's game, and the veteran outfielder will not swing a bat for two-to-three days, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Before landing on the IL, Muncy was slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine home runs and 28 RBI over 167 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago

  • Dodgers place Max Muncy (oblique) on 10-day IL
Dodgers placed INF Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Advice: Well that certainly came out of nowhere. The 33-year-old slugger has been a very capable run-producer in the middle of the Dodgers’ lineup this season — slashing .223/.323/.475 with nine homers and 28 RBI through his first 40 games He’s going to miss at least a couple of weeks — and it could wind up being longer depending on the severity of the strain. Miguel Vargas was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 4:01 pm

  • Shut down from throwing
Whitlock (oblique) reported soreness in his left elbow following his rehab start at Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock performed well during his outing Wednesday, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out five batters, but his elbow may cause his return to the Red Sox to be postponed. The 27-year-old righty will be examined by team doctors in Boston on Monday, at which point more information on his status will be available. Rotowire.com Today, 3:16 pm

  • Garrett Whitlock dealing with soreness in elbow
Garrett Whitlock will undergo additional testing on Monday after experiencing soreness in his right elbow.

Advice: Ugh. The 27-year-old hurler had looked sharp in his latest minor league rehab start at Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, striking out five batters over 4 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. The plan was to have him rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation next week, but that’s obviously on hold for now. The Red Sox should provide an update on his status after Monday’s testing is complete, but it doesn’t sound great. Rotoworld Today, 3:08 pm

  • Getting breather Friday
Campusano is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: Campusano had been behind the plate for the Padres in each of the previous four contests, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Kyle Higashioka will do the catching for knuckleballer Matt Waldron. Rotowire.com Today, 12:37 pm
  • Stanton back in the lineup Friday
Giancarlo Stanton is back in the lineup, batting fifth for the Yankees against the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Stanton had a routine day off on Thursday with the Yankees playing a day game after a night game. He’s past his prime at this point of his career, but the 34-year-old has still managed to blast nine home runs and 22 RBI in 144 at-bats this year. Rotoworld Today, 12:16 pm

  • Diaz blows back-to-back saves
Edwin Diaz blew another save against the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Three days after blowing his second save of the season, Diaz blew another save opportunity against the Phillies. Pitching with a one-run lead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh to start the ninth inning. Marsh advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Bryson Stott. All three of Diaz’ blown saves have come in the month of May. Once an elite closer, Diaz is showing the rust of someone who missed an entire season with a knee injury.

  • Another blown save
Diaz blew the save Thursday against Philadelphia, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over one inning.

Advice: Diaz inherited a one-run lead for the bottom of the ninth but was unable to convert his sixth save of 2024. Instead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh and then allowed Marsh to reach second on a wild pitch before Bryson Stott hit an RBI single to send the game into extras. Diaz has blown three of his last four save chances and has allowed six runs over his last eight innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm
  • Idle against lefty
Muncy isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

Advice: With left-hander Brent Suter set to open Thursday's game for the Reds, Muncy will retreat to the bench. While he sits, Enrique Hernandez will man the hot corner and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm
