    • Homers off bench Friday
Gorman hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Gorman entered the game as a defensive replacement after the Brewers turned it into a rout. Gorman's ninth-inning blasted ended his 0-for-14 skid that spanned all of May prior to Friday. The second baseman is slashing a meager .179/.262/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 130 plate appearances. Gorman began the year in a near-everyday role at the keystone, but he's now sat out against the last three southpaws the Cardinals have faced, with Jose Fermin picking up the playing time. Gorman had reverse splits last season and that has carried over into 2024, but he's simply not hitting well enough overall to justify a full-time role at this point of the season. • Lasts 4.1 innings vs. Pittsburgh
Assad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After the Pirates scored twice in the first inning, Assad delivered 3.1 scoreless frames before he was ultimately pulled in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old Assad hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts -- he's 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season. The Mexican-born right-hander is currently slated for a road matchup with Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm

    • Notches 10th save
Iglesias allowed a run on a hit and a walk over one inning Friday. He earned a save over the Mets.

Advice: Iglesias coughed up an RBI single to Pete Alonso with two outs in the ninth but was able to close out the 4-2 victory. Iglesias has now converted 10 of his 12 save chances this year while posting a 10:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings. Friday was the first time he allowed an earned run since April 24 and he still owns a strong 2.25 ERA. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:30 pm
    • Corey Seager homers, drives in two vs. Rockies
Corey Seager homered and drove in two runs in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Seager got the Rangers on the board with a homer, and he drove in another run with a bases-loaded walk that tied the game at 2-2. Things are starting to pick up for the 30-year-old star, but his .239/.314/.345 slash is obviously one of the more disappointing developments of the (early) 2024 campaign. • Raisel Iglesias earns shaky save over Mets
Raisel Iglesias closed out the Mets for his 10th save of the season Friday despite allowing an earned run.

Advice: Results wise, Iglesias has been great this season with a 2.35 ERA. There’s some fear of regression though with a paltry 16.1 K%, by far the lowest of his career. A.J. Minter has faltered out of the gate, so Iglesias still likely has a firm hold on Atlanta’s closer role. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm
    • Javier Assad lifted in fifth against Pirates
Javier Assad was lifted after allowing two runs — one earned — in 4 1/3 innings Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Assad was pulled from a 2-2 game after giving up a single with one out in the fifth. He pitched rather well tonight in striking out four and giving up four hard-hit balls and four hits, but his pitch count was driven up by some long at-bats. While his ERA stands at 1.70, he’s completed six innings just twice. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm

    • Anthony Rizzo powers Yankees past Rays on Friday
Anthony Rizzo clubbed his seventh home run of the season and drove in a pair on Friday night, propelling the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Rizzo broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with an RBI single off of Taj Bradley. He tacked on an insurance run in the ninth with his 392-foot (103.8 mph EV) off of Shawn Armstrong. The 34-year-old slugger finished the evening 2-for-4 and is now slashing .265/.337/.435 with seven long balls and 22 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

    • Yandy Díaz reaches base three times in loss Friday
Yandy Díaz went 2-for-3 and drew a walk as the Rays were shut out by the Yankees on Friday evening in Tampa Bay.

Advice: The Rays’ catalyst did his job, with a leadoff single in the first inning, a leadoff single in the sixth and walk to start the ninth inning — but all three times the Rays were unable to bring him home. On the season, the 32-year-old infielder is now hitting .237/.299/.296 with just one home run and 16 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:32 pm

    • Sitting versus left-hander
Gorman is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest with the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Gorman will take a seat as left-hander Robert Gasser makes his major-league debut on the mound for Milwaukee. Jose Fermin will draw the start at second base in his place and bat leadoff against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:21 pm
