    • Removed from IL
The Astros reinstated Javier (neck) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Javier landed on the IL on April 21 due to neck discomfort. He made one rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on May 4, throwing 68 pitches while allowing three runs on three hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. To make room on the 40-man roster for Javier, Houston designated right-hander Brandon Bielak for assignment. Javier will start Saturday against the Tigers, though the Astros could limit his workload to ease the right-hander back into the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 11:49 am
    • Astros activate Cristian Javier for Saturday start
Astros activated RHP Cristian Javier from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Javier will take the ball on Saturday evening against the Tigers at Comerica Park following a nearly three-week absence due to neck discomfort. The 27-year-old righty isn’t expected to have any workload restrictions in his return from the injured list and should jump right back into fantasy manager’s lineups. Rotoworld Today, 11:43 am
    • Resting Saturday
Torres is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Ray, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Advice: Torres will not start for the first time since April 20 against Tampa Bay, though he did pinch hit in that contest. Torres is 5-for-30 with five walks and a solo home run in May, and he is coming off an 0-for-4 outing with one strikeout in Friday's win. Oswaldo Cabrera will shift to second base Saturday, while Jon Berti gets the start at third. Rotowire.com Today, 10:46 am

    • Gleyber Torres on the bench Saturday vs. Rays
Gleyber Torres is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Rays.

Advice: Torres finds himself on the bench after a dreadful start to the month, batting .167 (5-for-30 with one homer in nine games since May 1. The 27-year-old second baseman’s underlying Statcast metrics have been some of the worst of his career and it’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly he needs to do to turn things around at the moment. It’ll be Oswaldo Cabrera taking a turn at the keystone on Saturday in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 10:16 am

    • Marlins activate Jesús Luzardo for Saturday start
Marlins activated LHP Jesús Luzardo from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Luzardo will take the ball for Saturday’s showdown against the division-rival Phillies at loanDepot park following a two-week absence due to a flexor strain in his left elbow. The 26-year-old southpaw has been one of the few positives in an otherwise dismal campaign for Miami and should provide a significant lift to a struggling starting rotation. Unfortunately, his results have been less than spectacular with a lackluster 24.1 percent strikeout rate and bloated 5.07 FIP. It’s not what you want. Rotoworld Today, 9:22 am
    • Clears IL
The Marlins reinstated Luzardo (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Luzardo made one start in his rehab assignment, pitching 5.2 scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and six strikeouts with Single-A Jupiter on May 5. The 26-year-old southpaw will waste no time getting into major-league action and is starting Saturday against Philadelphia. Before landing on the IL, Luzardo was 0-2 over five starts with a 6.58 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB over 26 innings. In a corresponding move, the Marlins optioned right-hander Eli Villalobos to Triple-Jacksonville. Rotowire.com Today, 9:09 am
    • Escapes with fifth save
Jax gave up a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning Friday while striking out one, recording his fifth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Jhoan Duran got the call in the eighth inning to face the top of Toronto's order, leaving the ninth for Jax, but he ran into trouble with two outs after a Bo Bichette single kicked off a Jays rally. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli has been using Duran as a relief ace rather than a pure closer and he has three saves and three holds in six appearances since coming off the IL in late April, but Jax hasn't been the sole beneficiary of the available opportunities -- Caleb Thielbar and Cole Sands have also picked up saves since Duran's season debut. Brock Stewart (shoulder) could also end up in that mix once he gets healthy. Jax has a 3.06 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 17.2 innings on the season, and Duran should see the majority of save chances for the Twins, but his main understudy could creep into the low double digits in saves by the time the season is done. • Blows save, takes loss
Estevez (0-2) blew the save and took the loss Friday against Kansas City. He allowed two runs on three hits and no walks with one strikeout over one inning.

Advice: Estevez allowed a lead-taking, two-run homer to Adam Frazier in the ninth inning to blow his third save on the year. Remarkably, the Angels closer has yet to issue a free pass this season after posting a shaky 11.0 percent walk rate in 2023, but he has allowed three homers over 11.2 innings, leading to a 6.17 ERA. Despite the ugly ERA, Estevez's hold on the ninth-inning role seems to be fairly secure thanks in large part to a career-high 30.4 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:56 pm
    • Carlos Estévez blows save, takes loss vs. Royals
Carlos Estévez allowed two runs in an inning of work while blowing a save Friday against the Royals and also picking up a loss.

Advice: This is already the third blown save of the season for the right-hander. He gave up a two-run homer to Adam Frazier of all people, and that turned a 1-0 lead for the Angels into a 2-1 score and ultimately a loss. Estévez is going to get the overwhelming majority of save chances for the Angels, but he’s a middling option at best with just so-so results and a very bad baseball team to give him those chances.
