    • Starting at DH amid stiffness
Marte is starting at designated hitter Saturday for the second day in a row due to his body feeling a little stiff, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He socked his eighth home run of the season Friday to extend his hit streak to 11 games. Marte should return to the keystone once he feels right. Blaze Alexander has started each of the last two games at second base. Rotowire.com Today, 11:49 am

    • Orioles remove Craig Kimbrel from closer role
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Saturday that he’s not sure when Craig Kimbrel will return to the closer role.

Advice: Kimbrel pitched the seventh inning on Friday against the Diamondbacks and it certainly appears that the Orioles are set on giving him some lower-leverage situations to get back on track before they consider putting him back in the ninth inning role. For now, it seems like Yennier Cano will handle any save chances that arise, while Danny Coulombe and Jacob Webb could also be in the mix. Rotoworld Today, 11:26 am

    • Fans seven in second win
Ryan (2-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings in a 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

Advice: A solo shot by Isiah Kiner-Falefa accounted for the only blemish on Ryan's line. The right-hander fired 75 of 104 pitches for strikes in his longest outing of the season, as he produced his fourth straight quality start and sixth of the year. Ryan will take a 3.21 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 53:6 K:BB through 47.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 am

    • Collects third hold
Kimbrel struck out one in a perfect seventh inning Friday to record his third hold of the season in a 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 35-year-old reliever didn't exactly get deployed in the highest-leverage spot, as he faced Arizona's 8-9-1 hitters, but Kimbrel got the job done on an efficient 12 pitches (eight strikes). He topped out at 94.5 mph with his fastball though -- he averaged 95.9 mph last season -- and it was only the second time in Kimbrel's last seven appearances that he avoided giving up a run. Yennier Cano got the save in the ninth inning, and that figures be the arrangement for a while until Kimbrel demonstrates his struggles are behind him, although other relievers like Danny Coulombe could also be in the saves mix. Over those last seven appearances, Kimbrel has a 10.13 ERA, 3.19 WHIP and 8:9 K:BB in 5.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am

    • Swats eighth homer
Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: He took Cole Irvin deep in the third inning, giving Marte his eighth homer of the season and third in the last five games. The 30-year-old second baseman also extended his hitting streak to 11 games with the solo shot, but he's batting just .261 (12-for-46) during that stretch as he's managed only one multi-hit performance. • Back from suspension Saturday
Peralta was reinstated from his five-game suspension and will start Saturday's game against the Cardinals in Milwaukee.

Advice: Peralta was handed the five-game ban for throwing at the Rays' Jose Siri in an April 30 game, but he initially appealed the suspension and made his next turn through the rotation this past Sunday against the Cubs. He dropped his appeal a day later and began serving the ban, which concluded Friday. Peralta was presumably able to stay on his usual between-starts throwing regimen while he was suspended, so he shouldn't face any restrictions with his pitch count as he returns to the rubber Saturday. • Craig Kimbrel pitches perfect seventh for hold
Craig Kimbrel protected a one-run lead in the seventh inning Friday against the Diamondbacks, striking out one in a perfect inning.

Advice: This wasn’t exactly a low-pressure situation for the struggling Kimbrel, but the Orioles did manage to get him in against the bottom of the Arizona lineup. Kimbrel retired Blaze Alexander, Kevin Newman and then leadoff man Ketel Marte in order. One or two more similar outings might get him another chance in the ninth. • Joe Ryan keeps Blue Jays quiet in victory
Joe Ryan pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday in the Twins’ 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays.

Advice: The lone run was a 365-foot homer from Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The ball barely rated as hard hit, leaving his bat at 95.5 mph, and was a homer in only 11 ballparks. It’s Ryan’s fourth straight quality start, and he still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a game this season. Alas, the win tonight was only his second. Ryan will face the Yankees next. • Idle for second straight
Kirillof is not in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 26-year-old will look on from the dugout for the second straight matchup as Austin Martin takes left field versus Toronto lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Kiriloff has struggled lately to produce with his bat, going hitless in his last six games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:58 pm
