Cruz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: Cruz got off to a slow start to the season, though he's managed multiple hits in four of his last five starts. He's hit .500 in that span, also hitting two home runs while collecting six RBI and five runs scored. Importantly, Cruz has greatly cut down on his strikeout rate, as he's punched out multiple times in a game only three times in his last 17 starts and struck out at just a 23.8 percent clip in that span. • Modest three-game hitting streak
Bregman went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Tigers.

Advice: Bregman delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to three games. While that's not particularly notable, he's collected a hit in three straight starts only two other times this season, with the most recent stretch ending April 15. The end result is that Bregman has just a .201 batting average across 154 plate appearances on the campaign, though he has improved his production of late by tallying six RBI across his last 13 contests. • Stumbles in second start
Means escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: The southpaw got tagged for two runs in the third and fifth innings, but the Orioles scored in the eighth to tie up the game and take Means off the hook for his first loss before eventually walking it off in the 11th. He tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and he has a 3.09 ERA and 11:0 K:BB through his first 11.2 innings on the year. Means will look to sharpen things up on his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Mariners. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:56 pm

    • Shohei Ohtani leaves game with tightness in back
Shohei Ohtani was removed from Saturday night’s battle against the Padres due to tightness in his back.

Advice: As of now, Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts is calling his level of concern “minimal”, though he acknowledged that Ohtani would likely get a day off on Sunday to err on the side of caution. It doesn’t sound like the superstar slugger should be looking at any sort of extended absence, but it’s a situation worth monitoring. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:46 pm

    • Nursing back tightness
Ohtani was removed from Saturday's game versus the Padres due to back tightness, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said his level of concern regarding the injury is "minimal," but the skipper is leaning toward holding Ohtani out of Sunday's lineup as a precaution. Roberts will wait to see how Ohtani feels Sunday morning before making a final determination. Before exiting Saturday's contest, Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. • John Means allows four over 4 2/3 against D-Backs
John Means allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks while not factoring into the decision.

Advice: Means was outstanding Saturday against the Reds. This outing would best be described as shaky at best. The left-hander gave up six hits, and he struck out three while not issuing a walk. The 31-year-old gave up a two-run homer to Ketel Marte in the third, and two more were charged to him after he exited with one out in the fifth. Means will try and bounce back Friday against the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:20 pm

    • Joe Musgrove (triceps) plays catch on Friday
Joe Musgrove (triceps) played catch on Friday at Petco Park.

Advice: It’s a positive development for Musgrove that he’s resumed throwing already after landing on the injured list back on May 5 with triceps tendinitis. The 31-year-old righty is likely going to need a couple weeks to ramp up his throwing program, but it doesn’t sound like he’s facing a lengthy absence. Nothing official, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in June. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 am

    • Brandon Lowe’s exit ‘precautionary’ Friday at AAA
Brandon Lowe (oblique) made a precautionary exit from Friday’s minor league rehab game for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Lowe appears to be fine, but the Rays didn’t want to take any chances with wet field conditions, which led to the veteran second baseman’s removal after just one at-bat during Friday’s contest. He’s gone 2-for-5 with a grand slam in a pair of rehab contests so far and figures to be ready to return to Tampa Bay’s lineup at some point next week. He’s been on the shelf since early April due to an oblique strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:08 am

    • Early exit from rehab outing
Lowe (oblique) was pulled from Friday's rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham for precautionary reasons, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lowe has been on a rehab assignment since Tuesday and gone 2-for-5 with a home run across three games. It's unclear why he was pulled or if this will push back his return timeline. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:41 pm
