    • Knocks fourth homer
Friedl went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Friedl opened the game's scoring with his solo shot in the third inning. He singled and scored in the fifth and knocked in a run during the sixth. Friedl has four home runs this season, all coming over his last 11 games. During that stretch, he's hitting .309 with 12 RBI despite collecting multiple hits only twice. Friedl is slashing .247/.353/.438 through 85 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 pm
    • Homers vs. Miami
Thomas went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Thomas provided the big blow in the Nationals' seven-run third inning with a homer off Shaun Anderson, his fifth long ball this season. The 28-year-old outfielder extended his hit streak to eight games -- he's gone 10-for-29 (.345) in that span. Overall, Thomas is slashing .231/.295/.359 with 21 RBI, 18 runs scored and 16 stolen bases through 40 games this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Lane Thomas mashes three-run homer
Lane Thomas went 2-for-5 on Friday with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Thomas has once again been a dynamo this season in the heart of the Nationals’ order. The home run was his fifth in just 40 games - a 20 homer pace - to go along with 16 stolen bases. His .231 batting average and .295 on-base percentage are a bit of a drag, but are easy to stomach with those gaudy counting numbers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:10 pm

    • Rehab assignment next week
Abreu (ankle) is likely to begin a rehab assignment next week, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Abreu has been upping his workouts this week and is days away from testing out his right ankle in game action. He's less than two weeks removed from suffered an ankle sprain, so Abreu shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before rejoining the Red Sox' roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:36 pm

    • Lane Thomas tossed for arguing balls and strikes
Lane Thomas was ejected from Thursday’s game in the sixth inning for arguing a called third strike.

Advice: Thomas was tossed by Emil Jimenez from a tie game for seemingly very little reason. Nick Senzel, who was supposed to get the day off, replaced him, with Ildemaro Vargas moving from third base to the outfield. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:43 am

    • TJ Friedl scores run as Reds top Guardians
TJ Friedl singled and scored a run as the Reds triumphed over the Guardians on Wednesday evening in Cincinnati.

Advice: Friedl singled off of Tanner Bibee in the sixth inning, then rode home on Jeimer Candelario’s go-ahead three-run homer. That would be the 28-year-old outfielder’s only hit in four at-bats on the day. He has been having a rough time at the plate in-between stints on the injured list this season, slashing a mere .221/.338/.382 with three homers, 13 RBI and five stolen bases in his first 19 games. • Matt Vierling clubs solo homer in loss to Nats
Matt Vierling clubbed a solo home run on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the Tigers to victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Vierling connected on a 363-foot (94.6 mph EV) solo shot to lead off the home half of the first inning for the Tigers. He finished the night 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts and is now hitting .268/.309/.468 with eight long balls and 27 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:40 pm

    • Back 'sooner rather than later'
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that he expects Abreu (ankle) to return from the 10-day injured list "sooner rather than later," Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Cora said that Abreu still feels some minor discomfort with his right ankle when running in a straight line, but the outfielder is doing much better. He will need a rehab assignment, so Abreu won't be ready for activation when first eligible Thursday. However, the Red Sox likely won't have to wait too much longer to get Abreu back. • Cora: Wilyer Abreu (ankle) likely to return soon
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters he feels Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will return much sooner than originally anticipated.

Advice: Cora added that Abreu has already progressed to full baseball activities after landing on the injured list back on June 4 with a sprained ankle. The 24-year-old has been excellent defensively in right field this season and has also posted an .829 OPS with six homers and seven steals in 189 plate appearances. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:16 pm
