    • Picks up eighth save
Finnegan struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: He needed only six pitches, all strikes, to dispatch the middle of Miami's order. Finnegan hasn't allowed an earned run yet in April, converting all seven of his save chances on the month with a 9:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings. Hunter Harvey, who collected his eighth hold Friday with a clean eighth inning, has been more dominant to begin the season and has a 19:2 K:BB through 13 innings. For now though, Nats manager Dave Martinez is content to let him handle highest-leverage spots while Finnegan takes care of business in the ninth. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
    • Tallies two hits Friday
Morel went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Morel has been scuffling a bit lately, as he's batting just .176 over his last 10 games with no home runs, and he has just three long balls overall this season across 25 contests. Still, the 24-year-old is a legitimate power threat, and even though he hasn't really gotten going in that department yet, he can heat up in a hurry and hit homers in bunches. • Drives in run in Mets debut
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: He also struck out twice, but Martinez made a quick impact in his debut for the Mets, chasing Miles Mikolas from the game in the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. Martinez posted big numbers in only 113 games for the Dodgers last year, slashing .271/.321/.572 with 33 homers and 103 RBI, and once he's shaken off his rust the 36-year-old should be a potent addition to the middle of the New York batting order. • Dominant again in seventh save
Miller earned the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect inning.

Advice: Miller delivered another lights-out performance Friday, striking out a pair while stranding the free runner at second in the 10th inning to seal a one-run Oakland victory, earning a second save in as many days. After allowing a pair of runs in his first outing this year, Miller's now held opponents scoreless in his subsequent 11.1 innings while allowing just one hit and one walk in his last seven appearances. The 25-year-old right-hander is up to seven saves on the year as he lowered his ERA to 1.46 with a 0.89 WHIP and an outstanding 18.24 K/9. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:39 pm

    • Mason Miller perfect in 10th for save
Mason Miller pitched a perfect 10th with a one-run lead for a save Friday against the Orioles.

Advice: The automatic runner should score most of the time in these situations, resulting in an undeserved blown save, but not when it’s Miller on the mound. He got two strikeouts and a weak groundout in racking up his seventh save tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm

    • J.D. Martinez goes 2-for-4 in Mets debut
J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in his Mets debut Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Martinez’s arrival failed to do much to spark the offense, but it was an encouraging first game for him. His double would have been a homer in eight ballparks, according to Statcast. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Marlins in ninth
Kyle Finnegan secured his eighth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead against the Marlins.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander made things look awfully easy in this one, getting Josh Bell on a swinging third strike, Jesus Sanchez on a line out to shortstop and Tim Anderson on a ground ball to second — needing only six pitches (all strikes) to get the job done. The underlying metrics aren’t great, but it’s hard to argue with the results that Finnegan has put up so far. He now boasts a 2.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings while converting eight of his first nine save chances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:50 pm
    • J.D. Martinez batting fifth in Mets debut Friday
J.D. Martinez will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter in his Mets’ debut on Friday night against the Cardinals.

Advice: It took a bit longer than anticipated, but finally the Mets get to add the 36-year-old slugger to the middle of their lineup. He wound up playing in just two games during his time at Triple-A Syracuse, going 3-for-8 with a double. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this point. Remember, he slashed .271/.321/.572 with 33 homers and 103 RBI in only 113 games for the Dodgers during the 2023 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:45 pm

    • Batting fifth in Mets debut
Martinez will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: It will be Martinez's Mets and season debut after he was sent to the minors for a while following a late-March signing. The 36-year-old will be given extra days off in the early going as he gets his feet under him, but Martinez will eventually be the team's everyday DH. He slashed .271/.321/.572 with 33 home runs for the Dodgers last season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:27 pm
