    • Two hits, RBI in loss
Gurriel went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Gurriel singled in the Diamondbacks' final run in the fifth inning. An earlier double extended a hit streak to four games (6-for-18). The modest hit streak is a welcome sign for Gurriel, who endured a 2-for-37 (.054) slump over the nine previous games. Rotowire.com Today, 5:54 am
    • Paul Goldschmidt strikes out four times in return
Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-5 with four strikeouts on Saturday in the Cardinals’ loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Yikes. Goldschmidt was unable to really get anything going in his return to St. Louis’ lineup after receiving a couple days off to mentally reset and work on his swing. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman, who was the National League’s MVP Award winner just two seasons ago, is off to the worst start of his career, batting .190 (27-for-142) with two homers, 11 RBI and one steal through 37 contests. Perhaps the most alarming aspect of his early-season decline is that he’s striking out at a career-worst 31.7 percent clip so far. Simply put, it’s not what you want. Rotoworld Today, 3:34 am
    • Nick Lodolo serves up grand slam in loss to Giants
Nick Lodolo surrendered four runs over six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Astonishingly, all of the damage against Lodolo came in the opening frame when the Giants struck for four runs, courtesy of a two-out grand slam from Matt Chapman, following a pair of hits and a walk. The 26-year-old southpaw settled in afterwards, keeping San Francisco off the scoreboard over his final five frames of work, but it wasn’t enough to take him off the hook for a loss. He finished with six strikeouts and only issued one walk, generating 13 swinging strikes and finishing with a respectable 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a solid 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43/9 K/BB ratio a cross 35 innings (six starts) into a tough road tilt on Thursday against a loaded Dodgers lineup. Rotoworld Today, 3:16 am
    • Launches homer in win
Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Henderson regained a share of the major-league lead with his 12th homer of the campaign, putting him in a tie with Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna and Houston's Kyle Tucker. While he's hit two homers over the last three games, Henderson has just three multi-hit efforts in May, a month that's seen him go 8-for-34 (.235) over nine contests. It's little to be concerned about considering how well he's played overall -- he has a .278/.355/.583 slash line with 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and six stolen bases over 38 games. • Shelled in return
Javier (2-1) took the loss against Detroit on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks with no strikeouts over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Javier was activated off the injured list Saturday to make his first start for the Astros since April 14, but the right-hander didn't look quite right in his return. In addition to getting knocked around for seven runs and throwing only 21 of 50 pitches for strikes, Javier's final two fastballs clocked in at 89.7 mph and 90.2 mph, well below this typical velocity, as Chandler Rome of The Athletic notes. It's unclear whether his struggles Saturday are an indication that Javier isn't fully recovered from the neck issue that originally sidelined him or if he was simply rusty, but he's currently penciled in to make his next start at home against Oakland. • Gives up grand slam in loss
Lodolo (3-2) took the loss Saturday versus the Giants, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.

Advice: His line is deceptive -- Lodolo permitted all four runs in the first inning on a Matt Chapman grand slam. He also gave up two hits in the fourth, but Lodolo escaped that rough patch with no further damage. The southpaw started the season with just five runs allowed over his first four starts, but he's been tagged for four runs in each of his last two outings. He's now at a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts this season. Lodolo will look to get back on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled to be on the road versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:53 pm
    • Cristian Javier demolished in return from IL
Cristian Javier was absolutely demolished in his return from the injured list on Saturday, giving up seven runs on five hits and four walks in just 1 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: Yikes. None of the four outs that Javier did record came via the strikeout. He pitched around a couple of baserunners in the opening inning, but the second inning wasn’t as forgiving. There, Mark Canha belted a grand slam and Kerry Carpenter added a two-run shot that chased Javier from the ballgame. He threw 50 pitches (21 for strikes), getting just two swings and misses while posting a CSW of only 16 percent. Perhaps fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before putting him back into lineups. Javier will do battle against the Athletics his next time out at home on Thursday. • Plates four runs
Stott went 2-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's 8-3 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Stott's bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning put the Phillies ahead for what turned out to be for good. He also added an RBI single in the eighth. It's the second four-RBI game for Stott over his last 10 contests, and he's batting .375 with a couple homers and 13 RBI over that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:34 pm

    • Gunnar Henderson homer helps O’s top D-Backs
Gunnar Henderson homered in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday in 11 innings.

Advice: Henderson hit a solo blast of Ryne Nelson in the fifth inning. That’s the 12th homer for the second-year shortstop, and he’s driven in 27 runs over the Orioles’ first 37 games of the year. Henderson has played at a star level for much of 2024, and there’s plenty of reason to believe there’ll be way more good than bad for the infielder for the rest of the season and beyond.
