Neris (3-0) picked up the win Sunday against the Pirates, allowing two hits and one walk over a scoreless inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Neris took the mound in the top of the ninth during a 2-2 ballgame and fired off a scoreless inning, eventually earning the win after the Cubs put up three runs in the 10th. Since taking over closing duties from Adbert Alzolay, Neris has converted all six of his save chances and has earned a pair of wins. Over his last nine appearances, Neris owns a 2.00 ERA and a 7:7 K:BB in 9.0 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
    • Homers early in win
Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Advice: The Rockies got to Jose Urena early in the first inning, and Tovar's blast was ultimately all they needed in the win. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with four extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.308/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple over 39 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:55 pm

    • Adbert Alzolay gets extra inning save on Sunday
Adbert Alzolay allowed one run in one inning while securing his fourth save in a 5-4 extra-innings win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: Hector Neris threw the ninth inning in a tie game and didn’t allow a run despite allowing two hits and walking one. Alzolay followed in the 10th and allowed a home run to Connor Joe that scored two, including the extra runner. It wasn’t a pretty effort and Alzolay still appears to be behind Neris and Mark Leiter Jr. in the closer hierarchy, but if Neris continues to look shaky than Alzolay has a chance to pitch himself back into the job. • Gleyber Torres homers in win over Rays
Gleyber Torres went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in a win over the Rays on Sunday.

Advice: Torres’ big fly was a 395-foot shot that left the bat at 103 mph for his second home run of the season. It’s been a rough season for Torres and was a rough week overall, going just 2-for-19 combined against the Astros and Rays. Perhaps the 27-year-old is trying to do too much in his contract season, but he’s been making more contact recently so it’s best to hold onto him in fantasy leagues because he’s too talented a hitter to keep performing at this level all season. • Alex Verdugo taking seat Sunday against Rays
Alex Verdugo is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Verdugo has gone hitless over the last four games and has hit just .171 in the month of May. He’ll get a day off with Jahmai Jones getting the start in left field and hitting ninth. Oswaldo Cabrera is also out of the lineup Sunday with Jon Berti getting a start at third in Cabrera’s absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:24 am

    • Sitting against southpaw
Verdugo is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rays.

Advice: With southpaw Tyler Alexander taking the hill for the Rays on Sunday, the righty-hitting Jahmai Jones will start in left field and bat ninth in place of the lefty-hitting Verdugo. Verdugo has gone 0-for-8 with three strikeouts over his last two games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:22 am

    • Getting first day off of 2024
Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: After being limited to playing in 90 games in 2023, Altuve is off to a healthy start to 2024. He's started in each of Houston's first 39 games, but he'll be on the bench Sunday in what looks to be a routine maintenance day. Mauricio Dubon will check in at second base for Altuve, who gets the day off while he's in the midst of a minor slump at the dish. Altuve has gone 3-for-21 with seven strikeouts over his last five starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 am

    • Jose Altuve not starting Sunday against Tigers
Jose Altuve is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Tigers.

Advice: It’s a day of rest for Altuve after playing the first 39 games of the season with a .312 average and .882 OPS. The 34-year-old gets Sunday off with Kyle Tucker moving to the leadoff spot and Mauricio Dubon playing second base while hitting ninth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:12 am

    • Kyle Schwarber remains out Sunday with back issue
Kyle Schwarber (back) is out of the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Marlins.

Advice: Schwarber is out of the lineup as expected, with the hope being that the 31-year-old can return to the lineup Monday. Bryce Harper is the designated hitter against Miami with Whit Merrifield handling third base and leading off and Alec Bohm at first base. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 am
