    • Ryan Helsley perfect in earning 12th save
Ryan Helsley notched his 12th save with a perfect ninth against the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Helsey struck out two. He’s been credited with a win or a save in 87.5% of the Cardinals’ 16 victories this season. Rotoworld Today, 3:46 pm
    • MacKenzie Gore takes tough luck loss against BOS
MacKenzie Gore allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits in six innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Gore struck out nine and walked just two on the day while posting a stellar 30 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. His slider was his best pitch today which is partially a problem because it’s his third-most used pitch and he threw only 17 on the day. The curve didn’t miss many bats and got hit hard in what was otherwise a pretty solid overall start for Gore. His ERA stands at 3.38 on the year but he gets a much tougher start next week on the road against the Phillies. Rotoworld Today, 2:43 pm
    • Goes deep in loss
Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner took rookie Paul Skenes deep in the fourth inning for just his second long ball of the season. He drove in another run an inning later when he walked with the bases loaded. The low power output isn't too surprising, as Hoerner had only nine home runs last year and just 10 in 2022. The shortstop has still been productive in May with a .300 batting average and .941 OPS for the month along with both homers and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 5:35 am

    • Smacks solo shot in rehab debut
Gelof (oblique) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Round Rock on Saturday, going 1-for-5 with a solo home run.

Advice: Gelof's ability to both play a full game on defense and generate enough force with the bat to clear the fences speaks to his seemingly improved health. Gelof is set to be evaluated after each rehab game to determine his progress, and if he doesn't have any concerning residual effects overnight, the 24-year-old could be back in Las Vegas' lineup Sunday. • Nico Hoerner clubs solo homer in loss to Pirates
Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and is now hitting .272/.351/.397 with two homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:44 pm

    • Heads to bench Saturday
Merrill is not in Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Advice: Merrill will head to the bench with lefty James Paxton starting for the Dodgers. Jose Azocar is starting in center field and batting eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:10 pm

    • Sharp in season debut
Bradley (0-1) was the pitcher of record in Friday's loss to the 2-0 loss to the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Bradley was excellent in his first MLB start since suffering a pectoral strain in spring training, holding the Yankees to a lone run on an Anthony Rizzo two-out RBI single in the fourth inning. However, the right-hander was stuck with the loss as the Rays failed to get anything going offensively in a 2-0 defeat. Bradley made 21 starts for Tampa Bay last season, going 5-8 with a 5.59 ERA. He's currently slated to face the Red Sox on the road in his next outing, which will likely fall Wednesday. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:13 pm

    • Scores three times in win
Contreras went 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Contreras was the offensive catalyst for the Brewers on Friday night as he crossed the plate a team-high three times. He also collected his third multi-walk game of the season as part of a fantastic start to 2024. The 26-year-old catcher is slashing .340/.420/.520 with five homers, 30 RBI and 35 runs scored over 174 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:58 pm

    • Sharp in second win
Valdez (2-1) earned the win Friday over the Tigers, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Valdez allowed two runs on a Matt Vierling double in the third inning before blanking Detroit over his final four frames en route to his second victory of the year. It's an encouraging bounce-back effort from Valdez, who allowed five runs in a loss to Seattle in his previous start. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 3.64 with a 1.35 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB across five starts (29.2 innings). Valdez, who has walked only one batter over his past three starts, is currently scheduled for a home matchup with the A's in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:13 pm
