    • Records second win
Doval (2-0) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the win Friday over the Pirates.

Advice: Doval walked the tightrope in the top of the ninth inning Friday, loading the bases with one out before inducing a double play to escape the jam while keeping the game scoreless. Patrick Bailey then delivered a walk-off three-run home run to give Doval and the Giants the win. Doval has kept runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances this season, earning four saves with a 3.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:01 am
    • Picks up win in rainout
Ragans (1-2) earned the win Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Ragan technically pitched a complete game Thursday, with the outing being called after five innings due to rain. Regardless of the shortened game, Ragans managed to bounce back from a horrific start against the Orioles on Apr. 20 and got in the win column for the first time this season. Outside of his start against Baltimore, Ragans owns a 1.91 ERA with 33 strikeouts across 28.1 innings pitched. He's tentatively scheduled for a rematch with the Blue Jays in Toronto early next week. • Cole Ragans collects win in rain-shortened start
Cole Ragans held the Blue Jays to one run over five innings to collect his first win of the season in a rain-shortened start.

Advice: Ragans would have been able to go another inning or two if not for a nearly four-hour rain delay that eventually wound up ending the contest altogether. The 26-year-old left-hander bounced back from a dreadful outing last Saturday against the Orioles when he allowed seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings. A run-scoring single by Ernie Clement in the fourth inning accounted for the only damage against him in this one.. Ragans has mostly looked the part so far in 2024, and he’ll have a rematch with the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:17 pm

    • Short start in loss
King (2-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out five in 3.2 innings.

Advice: King had given up just one run through three innings before things took a turn for the worst in the fourth. Two singles and an error loaded up the bases before King served up a grand slam to Brendan Rodgers to give the Rockies their first lead of the game. The damage didn't stop there, as King would then find himself with the bases loaded again in that same inning and walked in another run before finally being pulled. After flirting with a no-hitter his last time out, King had arguably his worst start of the year and has given mixed results through his first six outings. The 29-year-old now owns a 4.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB in 30.2 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column versus the Phillies this weekend. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:00 am

    • Earns quick save
Doval retired both batters he faced with one strikeout to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Doval entered the game with runners on the corners and one out after Tyler Rogers allowed a double and two singles before being replaced. Doval made easy work of both hitters he faced, getting Joey Wendle to strike out before inducing a one-pitch groundout to end the game. The 26-year-old closer has converted all four of his save opportunities thus far and owns a 3.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 7.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:49 am
    • Michael King gets roughed up in fourth in loss
Michael King was tagged for six runs — four earned — in 3 2/3 innings by the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: King’s first start at Coors Field was going OK until the fourth, when two singles, an error and a grand slam gave the Rockies the lead. Alas, that still wasn’t the end of it, as King went on to allow a single, a double, an intentional walk and an unintentional walk to push in another run. He was finally pulled at that point, and Stephen Kolek was able to strand the bases loaded. King dropped to 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA. He’s still a decent enough play versus the Phillies next time out. • Hammered for seven runs
Ragans (0-2) took the loss Saturday against the Orioles, allowing seven runs on nine hits over 1.2 innings while striking out four.

Advice: Ragans struck out three of the first four batters he faced in the contest before getting lit up for seven runs in the second inning. The lefty allowed eight hits in the frame before being relieved by Matt Sauer, marking the shortest outing of the season for Ragans after going at least five innings in each of his first four starts. He came into the contest with a 1.93 ERA but saw it jump to 4.32 following Saturday's loss. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:47 am

    • Cole Ragans pulled in second after allowing seven
Cole Ragans gave up seven runs on nine hits in just 1 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Oh dear. Ragans was able to get through the first inning, but Kansas City was able to put a touchdown of offense up against the left-hander in quite easily his worst start as a Royal. The 26-year-old did strike out four batters while throwing 47-of-62 pitches for strikes, if you’re looking for any kind of positive. These things happen. Ragans will all but assuredly be better against the Blue Jays on Thursday. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:17 pm
