      Advice: This was Melendez's first multi-hit effort since April 19 -- he went 2-for-36 over the previous 12 contests. The 25-year-old started the year hot, batting .325 over his first 12 games, but he's since returned to his career norms. He's slashing a poor .186/.252/.363 with four home runs, two steals, 12 RBI, nine runs scored and six doubles over 111 plate appearances. Despite the poor batting, Melendez is still seeing a majority of the playing time in left field, keeping Nelson Velazquez at designated hitter and Dairon Blanco on the bench.       Santander went 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's win over Cincinnati.

      Advice: Santander already had a nice multi-hit performance in the bag before capping his day off with a ninth-inning grand slam in the blowout victory. It was his fifth long ball of the year and first since April 17, snapping a 15-game drought. He posted a .505 OPS over his previous 13 games since his last multi-hit effort April 20.       Anthony Santander went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and five RBI in an 11-1 win over the Reds on Sunday.

      Advice: It was only a matter of time before Santander started to get hot. The 29-year-old took Emilio Pagan deep for a three-run shot in the eighth innings that went 402 feet and left the bat at 104 mph. He also had a 107.3 mph single and 98.3 mph single on the day. He’s slashing .218/.295/.427 on the season with five home runs and 23 RBI. If you can, now would still be the time to try and trade for Santander before he really gets hot.       David Robertson pitched a hitless 10th with a one-run lead for his first save Sunday against the Royals.

      Advice: Kirby Yates wound up with the win after pitching scoreless eighth and ninth innings. It’s a good reminder that even though Robertson was bypassed in favor of Yates after José Leclerc was removed from the closing gig, he’s still intriguing in mixed leagues.       Yates (3-0) earned the win after he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a walk while striking two batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals.

      Advice: Yates entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Rangers trailing 2-1 and he was able to work around a walk to keep it a one-run deficit going into the ninth. After Texas tied it up at 2-2, the right-hander returned for the following frame, setting the Royals down in order. The Rangers went on to win it in the 10th inning, earning Yates his third victory of the year.       Advice: Contreras accounted for all the offense for St. Louis on Sunday, launching a solo shot off of Garrett Crochet in the bottom of the fourth inning. The long ball was his sixth of the year and second in the last four contests.       Willson Contreras clubbed his sixth home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, accounting for the entirety of the Cardinals’ offense in a loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: The 31-year-old backstop tagged White Sox’ left-hander Garrett Crochet for his 426-foot (111.4 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning, tying the game at 1-1. That would be their only scoring in the ballgame. Contreras struck out in each of his other three plate appearances in the contest, finishing the day 1-for-4.       The Padres placed Musgrove on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right elbow inflammation.

      Advice: Musgrove was expected to start Tuesday against the Cubs but will now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. It's unclear when the injury surfaced for the right-hander, who struck out nine and allowed two runs over six innings his last time out versus the Cubs. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, there's hope Musgrove will be able to return from the injured list when first eligible May 17 in Atlanta.       Padres placed RHP Joe Musgrove on the 15-day injured list with right triceps tendinitis.

      Advice: Musgrove was excellent in his start Wednesday against the Red with nine strikeouts and two runs allowed over six innings, but it appears not everything went well in that outing. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the move is “precautionary,” so it’s possible he will only miss a couple of starts before rejoining San Diego’s rotation.
