    • Set to face hitters soon
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Senga (shoulder/triceps) will throw two more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: On Wednesday, Senga threw his second bullpen session since he was shut down with triceps tightness in late May. The session went well, and he will repeat the step two more times before being cleared to face hitters and eventually heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Senga has already been ruled out for the rest of the first half, but the righty remains optimistic he can be a contributor for the Mets after the All-Star break. • Secures 12th save
Alvarado gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 12th save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The southpaw needed 20 pitches (13 strikes) to put away the BoSox, as he bounced back from his second blown save of the season Sunday. Since getting tagged for five earned runs Opening Day, Alvarado has emerged as the Phillies' primary closer -- he's posted a 1.91 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB through 28.1 innings, and his 12 saves are already a new career high. • Nails down eighth save
Scott struck out three over two perfect innings Tuesday to record his eighth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Mets.

Advice: The lefty fired 22 of 31 pitches for strikes in perhaps his most impressive performance of the season. Scott hasn't allowed a run since the beginning of May and seems to have solved the control issues that plagued him early in the year -- over his 13-appearance scoreless streak he has a 0.73 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB through 15 innings, recording four wins, four saves and a hold. • Tanner Scott gets two-inning save
Tanner Scott pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three to secure his eighth save in a 4-2 win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Scott was brought in to face the heart of the Mets order in the eighth inning and then stayed in to close out the game after the Marlins gave him an extra run of cushion in the top of the ninth. The left-hander has now walked six batters and struck out eighteen in 15 innings since the start of May. That hasn’t led to many saves with Miami not producing many wins, but Scott has seemed to put his early season control issues behind him. For now. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:58 pm

    • José Alvarado secures 12th save of the season
José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure a save in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Alvarado did allow a one-out single and advanced the runner with a wild pitch, but he was never in any danger of blowing the lead. He now has 12 saves on the season as the main component of a Phillies closer group. He should remain a key piece of the bullpen throughout the season and is a good bet to lead the Phillies in saves even after the trade deadline. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Resumes throwing off mound
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Senga (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday and will throw another one Wednesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Advice: It's the first time Senga has thrown from the bump since he had to be shut down due to right triceps tightness. The hurler originally landed on the injured list due to a shoulder injury and is not expected back until after the All-Star break. Senga will need multiple rehab starts before returning, but it's not clear when he might be ready to pitch in games. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:17 pm

    • Kodai Senga to throw bullpen session on Wednesday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Senga isn’t expected to return until after next month’s All-Star break at this juncture as his rehabilitation from an offseason shoulder issue has hit several snags along the way. The 31-year-old righty got through a bullpen session over the weekend without any issues and appears to be finally ramping up his throwing program. No word yet on when he’ll progress to facing hitters before being set for a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:12 pm

    • Report: Yankees might eye lefty relievers
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, it “would be ideal” for the Yankees to pursue a “wipeout lefty” before the trade deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal specifically mentions Marlins’ Tanner Scott or Andrew Nardi and acknowledges that “The acquisition cost for a pre-arbitration reliever such as Nardi...would be considerably higher.” He also mentions that the Yankees would be open to high-strikeout-rate right-handed relievers as well, but a lefty is an ideal fit. This, of course, highlights one of the threats to Tanner Scott’s fantasy value as he would almost certainly lose his closer role if he were traded to the Yankees. You’re unlikely to get much for Scott in a trade in fantasy leagues, but his time as a closer appears to be running out with the trade deadline looming. Rotoworld Monday, 9:17 am

    • Fans nine in no-decision
Ragans allowed a run on three hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out nine during the loss to Seattle.

Advice: Ragans served up a leadoff home run to J.P. Crawford on just the fourth pitch of the game but was otherwise dominant despite not earning a win. After the homer, Ragans struck out seven of the next 10 batters he faced. It was his second straight quality start and fourth in his last five appearances. He forced a season-high 22 whiffs, including 11 with his changeup. Ragans lowered his ERA to 3.08 alongside a 98:25 K:BB through 79 innings. His next start is expected to be against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:49 pm
