      Advice: Hoerner took rookie Paul Skenes deep in the fourth inning for just his second long ball of the season. He drove in another run an inning later when he walked with the bases loaded. The low power output isn't too surprising, as Hoerner had only nine home runs last year and just 10 in 2022.       Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

      Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning.       Advice: Freeman hasn't been able to turn his hitting around in May -- he's gone 4-for-26 (.154) through nine games this month and is batting just .193 on the year. His homer Friday was his first since April 19, and only two of his hits in May have gone for extra bases. The 24-year-old has four homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and four steals through 126 plate appearances. It's fair to question whether Freeman has earned his near-everyday role, but the Guardians are unlikely to shake things up too dramatically while Steven Kwan (hamstring) is out.
