    • Raisel Iglesias gives up solo homer vs. Mets
Raisel Iglesias allowed a solo homer while picking up a strikeout in a relief appearance Saturday against the Mets.

Advice: Atlanta didn’t allow a hit over the first 8 2/3 innings, but Iglesias gave up the no-no — and the shutout — by allowing a homer to J.D. Martinez. Iglesias also gave up another hit and a walk, but he was able to escape the jam; although the escape comes without a save since he entered the game with a 4-0 lead. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:58 pm
    • Christian Scott strikes out eight, allows three vs. ATL
Christian Scott was charged for three runs over six innings with eight strikeouts in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: Scott walked two, and he scattered eight hits in a solid start against one of the better lineups in baseball in just his second MLB start. The right-hander has certainly shown his swing-and-miss stuff with 14 strikeouts in those first two outings with a 2.84 ERA showing he’s limited the damage when hitters do put the ball in play. Scott looks legit, but faces the red-hot Phillies next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:57 pm
    • Not starting Saturday
Freeman is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Freeman broke a three-game hitless streak during Friday's 6-3 loss when he swatted a solo home run, his first since April 19. Ramon Laureano will start in center field Saturday and bat sixth against White Sox right-hander Mike Clevinger. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:04 pm

    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) remains in holding pattern
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Saturday that Kodai Senga (shoulder) will need a few more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters.

Advice: Mendoza added that Senga remains in the process of tweaking his throwing mechanics, which is the reason he hasn’t faced hitters yet. It’s unclear whether this latest development will push back his season debut, but it’s a notable wrinkle as he continues his rehabilitation process. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:32 am

    • No hard innings cap this season
The Mets don't have a hard innings limit in mind for Scott this season, despite the fact that he's never thrown more than 87.2 innings in a season dating back to his college days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: That doesn't mean the 24-year-old right-hander is headed for a 200-inning campaign, of course. Instead, the team will rely on biometric data to make sure Scott's mechanics and pitch quality aren't deteriorating as his workload builds up. "The other way didn't work," pitching coach Jeremy Hefner said this week, referencing the fact that injuries around the league weren't curtailed in the past by focusing on the volume of innings a pitcher threw relative to prior years. "So this is the information in front of us. You try to make the best decision possible with the information that you have." Scott could still be facing a shutdown later this summer if he shows signs of fatigue, but after posting a 3.20 ERA and 36:6 K:BB through 25.1 innings for Triple-A Syracuse before an impressive big-league debut May 4 against the Rays, the Mets will keep him in the rotation as long as he's producing strong results. • Finding stride at plate
Acuna went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Mets.

Advice: He took Jose Quintana deep in the third inning, part of a four-run frame for Atlanta. Acuna may be turning things around at the plate -- after posting a 26.5 percent strikeout rate in April, he's fanned just 19.4 percent of the time through the first seven games in May. He's also batting .310 (9-for-29) to begin the month with two of his three homers on the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:31 am
    • Swats fourth homer
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Freeman hasn't been able to turn his hitting around in May -- he's gone 4-for-26 (.154) through nine games this month and is batting just .193 on the year. His homer Friday was his first since April 19, and only two of his hits in May have gone for extra bases. The 24-year-old has four homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and four steals through 126 plate appearances. It's fair to question whether Freeman has earned his near-everyday role, but the Guardians are unlikely to shake things up too dramatically while Steven Kwan (hamstring) is out. • Quality start in loss
Webb (3-4) allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings to take the loss versus the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Webb has walked multiple batters in three straight starts, but he was at least able to pitch deeper in this contest after failing to get past the fourth inning in either of his last two outings. It's still an uncharacteristic rough patch for the Giants' ace. He sports a 3.38 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 53.1 innings across nine starts this season. Webb's projected for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:11 pm

    • Third straight two-steal game
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: De La Cruz stole a base after each of his hits, no doubt taking advantage of the Giants starting their fourth-string catcher, Jakson Reetz, in this contest. This was De La Cruz's third straight game with multiple steals, and he's achieved that feat seven times already this season. The speedy infielder is up to 25 thefts on 29 attempts in 2024 while maintaining a .271/.370/.519 slash line through 38 games. He's added eight home runs, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple while serving as the Reds' No. 2 hitter. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:05 pm
