    • Rehab assignment approaching
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Steele (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Counsell didn't say how many starts the Cubs want Steele to make in the minors, but the 28-year-old southpaw is likely in for multiple rehab outings after sitting out roughly a month due to a strained left hamstring. Assuming his assignment goes smoothly, Steele will likely return to Chicago's rotation toward the middle of May. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

    • Justin Steele set to make rehab start this week
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Justin Steele (hamstring) will make a minor league rehab start this week.

Advice: Steele continues to progress towards rejoining Chicago’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back in late March with a left hamstring strain. The 28-year-old southpaw should be ready to return in early-to-mid May. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

    • Launches homer in loss
O'Neill went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: O'Neill has hit safely in all three games since returning from the concussion list and five consecutive overall. His fourth-inning home run was his eighth of the season, leaving him tied for third in MLB. All eight of O'Neill's homers have been solo shots. Rotowire.com Today, 7:58 am

    • Snaps slump, logs steal
Steer went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Steer snapped an 0-for-18 skid in the third inning then stole his sixth base in 26 games and is on pace to surpass the 15 steals he had in 2023. That's the good fantasy news. On the other side, that hitless run came at the tail end of a 5-for-40 (.125) stretch with no extra-base hits and one RBI over 11 games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:58 am

    • Tyler O’Neill goes 2-for-4, homers against Cubs
Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-4 and homered for Boston’s lone run against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Drawing comparisons to Mike Trout, O’Neill has eight homers and nine RBI this year. It’s hardly all his fault, as 45 of his 74 plate appearances have come with the bases empty. They all did tonight, as Jarren Duran was 0-for-4 from the leadoff spot ahead of O’Neill batting second. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

    • Jhoan Duran (oblique) to make rehab outing Saturday
Jhoan Duran (oblique) is scheduled to pitch in a minor league rehab game at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, after Friday’s scheduled appearance was rained out.

Advice: As long as everything goes well with that outing, it sounds like the Twins’ closer could be cleared to make his 2024 season debut. Duran threw 27 pitches his last time out and should be expected to have a similar workload on Saturday. It sounds like Griffin Jax’s usefulness from a fantasy perspective could be coming to an end soon. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:04 pm

    • Three hits, two RBI in win
Hoskins went 3-for-5 in Thursday's win over the Pirates with a double, two RBI and a stolen base.

Advice: Hoskins singled home William Contreras in his second at-bat to tie the game at 3-3 and later added an RBI double to give Milwaukee a one-run lead. The first baseman has recorded at least one RBI in four of his last six games, while Thursday marked his second three-hit effort of the season. With that said, he's still batting just .219 (16-for-73) in April with four homers and 13 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:08 am

    • Belts two homers in win
Julien went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Julien has shown good power early in the season with seven home runs and a .513 SLG, with three of those long balls coming in his past four contests. He's hitting just .213 and has a 31.9 percent strikeout rate, which is a marginal increase on his strikeout rate from last season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:13 pm

    • Julien has two hits, home run in win over CWS
Edouard Julien went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI in a win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: The 24-year-old hasn’t had a great start to the season, but he’s playing every day and is starting to find his groove a little at the plate. Although his season slash line is just .213/.308/.513, he has seven home runs and nine RBI and is 7-for-24 over his last six games with two home runs. With the Twins as banged up as they are, he should continue to get a chance to right the ship, and his elite plate discipline and strong batted-ball quality make him a fine waiver-wire target to see if he can keep his hot stretch going.
