    • Could be back for weekend series
Javier (neck) could be activated from the injured list and start during Houston's weekend series against Seattle, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Javier threw a bullpen session Sunday and is expected to throw again either Wednesday or Thursday. That will likely determine his status for the weekend, though it appears that Javier will be able to avoid a rehab stint even if his absence extends later into May. • Jordan Montgomery scratched following bee incident
Jordan Montgomery was scratched from Tuesday’s start against the Dodgers following a two-hour delay after a bee colony formed on the protective netting behind home plate at Chase Field.

Advice: Montgomery presumably went through his entire usual pregame routine prior to Tuesday’s showdown against the Dodgers before the removal of a bee colony that formed behind home plate resulted in a two-hour delay. It’s an unfortunate break for fantasy managers as the 31-year-old left-hander loses a start to one of the more bizarre incidents in recent memory. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm
    • Scratched after delay
Montgomery will not start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: The beginning of Tuesday's contest was delayed roughly two hours after a bee colony formed on the net behind home plate, and the lengthy delay will cause Montgomery to sit down while Brandon Hughes starts in a bullpen game. Montgomery's next start will likely be pushed back to Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:17 pm
    • Ragans dominates TOR before leaving with cramp
Cole Ragans allowed one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Ragans was removed from the game in the seventh inning with a calf cramp, but he remained in the dugout and there seems to be no concern about his status going forward. The left-hander was effective on Sunday with nine strikeouts and three walks. He also posted a 28 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW thanks to a strong effort from both his four-seam and change-up. He now has a 3.44 ERA on the season and is a must-start every time out, including this weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:02 pm

    • Suffers calf cramp
Ragans left Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a left calf cramp.

Advice: Ragans was removed from the game midway through the seventh inning and was later seen in the dugout after receiving minimal attention from the Royals' trainers, so his injury doesn't appear to be anything too severe. The team will likely continue to monitor his condition, but the 26-year-old lefty should be able to make his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:20 pm

    • Nick Pivetta making rehab start on Thursday
Nick Pivetta (elbow) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start on Thursday.

Advice: Pivetta is targeting an early-May return to Boston’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back on April 9 with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The 31-year-old righty is only expected to require one rehab outing before returning. It’s unclear whether he’ll have any initial workload restrictions yet. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:38 pm

    • Receives night off
Varsho is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Varsho won't face the left-handed Cole Ragans on Tuesday as the Blue Jays trot out a lineup of eight righties and Cavan Biggio. The outfielder is 1-for-14 (.071) across his last four games but will likely slide back into the Toronto lineup Wednesday when the Jays face RHP Seth Lugo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:23 pm

    • Moves to injured list
The Rockies placed Jones on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 29, with a low-back strain.

Advice: The 25-year-old was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros after his back injury flared up, and he'll be sidelined for at least the next week and a half after being diagnosed with a strain. Prospect Jordan Beck was promoted in a corresponding move and should see most of the reps in left field while Jones is sidelined. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:39 am

    • Rockies place Nolan Jones (back) on 10-day IL
Rockies placed OF Nolan Jones on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 29, with a low back strain.

Advice: Jones was removed from last Sunday’s game due to back tightness and now will head to the injured list until at least mid-May. The 25-year-old is slashing .170/.243/.277 through his first 26 games this season, which is definitely a disappointment for fantasy managers that drafted him expecting more of the same in 2023, but he’s hit somewhat of a sophomore slump.
