    • CJ Abrams sits against tough lefty
Like the rest of the Nationals’ lefty hitters, CJ Abrams is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against Garrett Crochet and the White Sox.

Advice: It makes for a weird lineup, as Ildemaro Vargas is playing left field and batting third and Rule 5 pick Nasim Nuñez is making just his second start of the year. It’s the first time Abrams has sat since Apr. 8, when he was dealing with hand soreness. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Lands on IL with groin strain
The Reds placed Lodolo on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left groin strain.

Advice: It's not clear whether Lodolo was injured during his most recent start Saturday versus the Giants or sometime since then, but either way, he's going to be on the shelf at least for the next couple weeks. The left-hander has been excellent this season, posting a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts. Nick Martinez would appear to be the most likely candidate to fill Lodolo's spot in the rotation, which comes up again Thursday versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

    • Nick Lodolo goes on injured list with calf strain
Reds placed LHP Nick Lodolo on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

Advice: Lodolo still hasn’t had any arm problems as a major leaguer, but the rest of his body keeps betraying him. The 26-year-old was looking like a potential All-Star with his 3.34 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio in six starts since returning from his last round of problems with his left leg. Nick Martinez could return to the rotation in his place. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Advice: With Paul Skenes in the fold and Bailey Falter pitching well enough to keep his rotation spot, Priester becomes the odd man out. He holds a 4.33 ERA and 17:10 K:BB over 27 innings covering five starts with the big club this season. Priester will join the Indianapolis rotation and likely will be the first to be called upon when the Pirates need a starter. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago
    • Pirates send down Quinn Priester after loss
Pirates optioned RHP Quinn Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The Pirates will go back to a five-man rotation for now. Priester had an adequate 4.33 ERA in his five starts, but that came with just 17 strikeouts and seven homers allowed in 27 innings. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago
    • Getting rare day off
Abrams is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Abrams started in both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader and the White Sox are bringing a lefty (Garrett Crochet) to the hill for Wednesday's series finale, so Nationals manager Dave Martinez likely decided that Abrams could benefit from a game off. With Abrams out of the lineup for the first time since April 8, lightly used Rule 5 pick Nasim Nunez will pick up a rare start at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

    • Dealt another loss
Priester (0-4) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks during six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Priester endured a nightmare second inning in which he allowed a two-run homer to Sal Frelick as part of a four-run, six-hit frame. The Pirates were never able to recover from the early deficit, falling 4-3 to give Priester his fourth loss in five starts. Despite the lack of wins, Priester has shown signs of improvement in his second year in the bigs, with his ERA dropping from 7.74 to 4.33 this season in 27 innings. With Paul Skenes impressing in his MLB debut and very likely to stick around, Priester could be the odd man out in the Pirates rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:40 pm
    • Generates quality start
Rodon (4-2) picked up the win Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing one run on six hits and no walks during six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Rodon turned in his fourth quality start of his last five appearances and didn't issue a four-ball walk for a third straight contest. The lone run charged against him came via a Ryan Jeffers homer in the bottom of the first. After posting a 6.85 ERA in his first season in New York, Rodon has bounced back with a 3.31 ERA through nine starts and is tied for the team lead in wins. Rodon is scheduled to close out a two-start week with a Sunday start against the White Sox -- the team he played his first seven seasons with. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:16 pm

    • Logs steal Tuesday
Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Angels.

Advice: Goldschmidt has gone 6-for-19 (.316) over the last four games, adding three RBI and three runs scored in that span, though he's also struck out 10 times. Any progress is a positive for the first baseman -- he went 0-for-27 over seven games to begin May. On the year, he's at a .205/.287/.282 slash line with three home runs, 14 RBI, 19 runs scored and two steals through 40 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm
