    • Paul Goldschmidt drives in two in win over Mets
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI, and a stolen base to lead the Cardinals to a 7-4 win over the Mets.

Advice: Goldschmidt seems to be warming up at the plate. He collected two hits on Saturday for his third multi-hit game in his last five contests. Goldschmidt drove in two runs with a double in the first inning and scored on a base hit by Masyn Winn. He singled in the fifth and swiped second for his first stolen base of the season before scoring on a balk. The 36-year-old first baseman is slashing .214/.306/.296 with two homers and 11 RBI across 113 plate appearances. Rotoworld 2 minutes ago
    • Hammered by O's
Sears (1-2) took the loss Saturday as the A's were dropped 7-0 by the Orioles, surrendering seven runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The lefty looked great the first time through the order, retiring the first nine batters he faced, but Baltimore jumped on Sears for three runs in the fourth inning and back-to-back solo shots by Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, before Gunnar Henderson chased him from the game in the seventh with a two-run blast. Sears did set a new season high in strikeouts and generated 33 called or swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, but he was made to pay when he missed his spots in the strike zone. He'll carry a 4.64 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 33 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Marlins. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Hit hard in Saturday's loss
Kikuchi (2-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs on nine hits over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 4-2 to the Dodgers. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: While the southpaw did manage to keep the ball in the yard, he still gave up some very loud contact, including three extra-base hits and an RBI single by Shohei Ohtani in the second inning that left his bat with a stunning exit velocity of 119.2 mph. Kikuchi saw his quality start streak end at three, but he'll take a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB through 33.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend against the Nationals. • JP Sears surrenders seven runs in loss to Orioles
JP Sears allowed seven runs with eight strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a loss against the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Sears was off to a great start, firing three perfect frames until the Orioles got to him in the fourth, bringing three runs in to score on five hits. Adley Rutchman and Ryan Mountcastle added two more in the fifth, going back-to-back with solo homers. Sears stuck in there to pitch into the seventh, giving up a two-run homer to Gunnar Henderson that would end his day. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 4.64 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 24/11 K/BB ratio across 33 innings into a start against the Marlins in Oakland on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 3:25 pm

    • Yusei Kikuchi gives up four runs in loss to Dodgers
Yusei Kikuchi allowed four runs with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Advice: Kikuchi gave up too much contact that found open field against the Dodgers. He allowed a leadoff triple to Mookie Betts to start the game, who then scored on a sacrifice fly. Four base hits in the second inning would bring in two more runs for Los Angeles. Kikuchi worked around a base hit in the third, then gave up a fourth run on two hits in the fourth. He finished strong with pair of clean innings in the fifth and sixth, striking out three on the day. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 2.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 36/8 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings into a road start against the Nationals on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 2:59 pm
    • Rehab start Thursday
Pivetta (elbow) is pencilled in to make a rehab start Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: He threw 50 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday, so Pivetta may only need one rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation. If he does return after Thursday's rehab start, Pivetta would line up to start in the two-game series in Atlanta on either May 8 or May 9. Rotowire.com Today, 1:01 pm

    • Throws 50-pitch session
After throwing a 50-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Pivetta (elbow) noted that he was able to throw all his pitches and was happy with his outing, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Pivetta continues to make progress in his rehab from a right elbow flexor strain that landed him on the 15-day IL on April 9. Before landing on the IL, Pivetta went 1-1 over two starts, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out 13 over 11 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 9:53 am

    • Nick Pivetta (elbow) targeting early May return
Nick Pivetta (elbow) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: The tentative plan is for Pivetta to make a minor league rehab start later next week before returning to Boston’s starting rotation the following week to take the ball during a brief two-game set against the Braves. The 31-year-old righty has been on the shelf since early April due to a mild right elbow strain. Rotoworld Today, 8:39 am

    • Muncy, Outman, Lux on the bench against lefty
Max Muncy, James Outman and Gavin Lux are not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The trio of lefties will take a seat with lefty Yusei Kikuchi toeing the rubber at the Rogers Centre. It’ll be lefty-masher Enrique Hernández at third base, rookie Andy Pages patrolling center field and versatile superstar Mookie Betts at the keystone. Rotoworld Today, 8:25 am
