    • Casey Mize pitches decently in no-decision
Casey Mize pitched decently in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits over five innings of work.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out a pair of batters on the night and didn’t issue a base on balls. The Royals scratched out two run in the opening inning on an RBI groundout off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino and a run-scoring single by Salvador Perez. They tacked on an unearned run in the second inning — and should have had more after some sloppy defense in the fourth inning, but Mize was able to pitch around any further damage. He generated seven whiffs on 87 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll carry a solid 3.08 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and an 18/6 K/BB ratio (26 1/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Labors through 4.1 innings
Cabrera (1-1) took the loss Saturday versus the Nationals, yielding six runs (five earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Cabrera cruised through the first two frames, striking out three while allowing just one runner to reach base. It was a struggle after that, though, with the big blow coming in the fifth inning when Jesse Winker walloped a grand slam. Cabrera twirled a gem in his first start earlier this month, but his second outing wasn't great and this one was worse. Further inconsistency should be expected. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago
    • Sonny Gray strikes out nine in win over Mets
Sonny Gray allowed four runs -- one earned -- with nine strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Gray had worked through four scoreless innings before Brandon Nimmo drove in two on a base hit in the fifth. Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer to make it four runs in the frame. Though, only one run was charged as an earned run to Gray after an error allowed the leadoff man to reach. The 34-year-old right-hander induced 15 whiffs to strike out nine batters. He’ll take an excellent 1.16 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 32/4 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in St. Louis on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 4:34 pm

    • Christopher Morel exits after collision on Saturday
Christopher Morel was removed from Saturday’s game against the Red Sox after colliding with teammate Alexander Canario.

Advice: Morel told reporters after the game that he felt alright, just a little banged up — specifically noting his right hip and both elbows. He did say that he was optimistic about his ability to play on Sunday, though manager Craig Counsell may have other plans. Be sure to check on his status prior to Sunday’s series finale. • Fans nine in victory
Gray (3-1) picked up the win Saturday versus the Mets, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: The Mets plated four runs during a sloppy fifth innings by the Cardinals which included a Nolan Arenado error. Just one of the runs on Gray's ledgers was earned, however, and he was in total control outside of that frame, facing just three over the minimum. Gray tripled his season walk total with three free passes in this one, but with the nine punchouts he now has an excellent 32:4 K:BB over his first 23.1 innings with St. Louis. • Edward Cabrera struggles late in loss to Nationals
Edward Cabrera was charged for six runs — five earned — in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Cabrera was pitching well over the first four frames, but the fifth was a disaster that saw him give up a grand slam to Jesse Winker. He walked two and struck out four in a start that sees his ERA balloon to 5.28. Cabrera will try and bounce back with a home start against the Rockies on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 4:20 pm
    • Emerges from fall uninjured
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Morel "is fine" after exiting Saturday's game versus the Red Sox after the seventh inning following a fall in the outfield, CHGO Cubs reports.

Advice: Morel toppled over left fielder Alexander Canario after making a running catch and landed hard on the ground, banging up his elbows and right hip. He looked to be in some pain and was removed from the game at that point. However, it sounds like he probably would've remained in if the score hadn't been so lopsided. It's possible the Cubs will hold Morel out Sunday if he's still a bit sore, but it does not appear fantasy managers need to have any real worry about his status. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 pm

    • Won't start Saturday
Melendez is not in the Royals' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Melendez has gone 0-for-12 over his last four starts, reaching base once on a walk over that span. Dairon Blanco will start in left field and bat eighth against Tigers right-hander Casey Mize. Rotowire.com Today, 2:14 pm

    • Set to rejoin rotation
Manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that Bradish (elbow) is poised to return to the Orioles' rotation, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Bradish's return can't come soon enough for an Orioles rotation also missing John Means (forearm) and Tyler Wells (elbow). Bradish made three rehab starts while recovering from a right UCL sprain that landed him on the 15-day injured list to begin the season. He pitched well in his last rehab outing with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over five frames, and the 27-year-old is ready to make his next start in the majors. He pitched every fifth day during his rehab assignment, so if he stays on that schedule, he could return Wednesday at home against the Yankees. The right-hander could rejoin Baltimore as part of a six-man rotation, with Hyde noting that "everything is up on the table right now." Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am
