• A.J. Puk earns save in win over Tigers
A.J. Puk pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn his first save of the year in a 1-0 win over the Tigers.

Advice: He’s back! After Puk was a disaster as a starting pitcher to begin the year, the Marlins transitioned him back to the bullpen while he was on a rehab assignment and then immediately thrust him into high-leverage outings. Tanner Scott did pitch the ninth in a tie game on Tuesday, but he also allowed one hit and walked one which has been par for the course for him this year. For his part, Puk allowed three soft fly outs to strand the extra runner in the bottom of the tenth inning and secure the save. There’s certainly a chance he claims back the closer role from Scott, so he should be added in all leagues just in case. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • Ryan Weathers blanks Tigers despite hard hits
Ryan Weathers threw eight shutout innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Tuesday, allowing three hits while striking out four.

Advice: Weathers didn’t walk a batter or allow any extra-base hits, but he also didn’t miss many bats either. He had just five total whiffs on 52 swings and three of them came on his sweeper. That amounted to a 10 percent whiff rate and a 19 percent CSW overall. He also allowed nine hard-hit baseballs despite just giving up three hits so things certainly broke his way tonight. He’ll now carry a 3.81 ERA into a tougher start next week against the Brewers. He remains a risky streamer for deeper formats given the unlikelihood of earning a win. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Mets outright Max Kranick to Triple-A
Mets sent RHP Max Kranick outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Kranick went unclaimed on waivers earlier this month after being designated for assignment and will head back to Triple-A Syracuse as extra organizational depth. The 26-year-old righty hasn’t made an appearance this season for the Mets and last pitched in the majors during the 2022 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 5:17 pm

  • Gives up one hit in loss
Butto (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Butto was sharp for most of the day, though he hit a rough patch in the third inning -- the right-hander loaded the bases with two outs before hitting Alec Bohm with a pitch and walking Brandon Marsh. The two runs proved to be more than enough to stick Butto with the loss, as the Mets couldn't get anything going against Aaron Nola in a 4-0 shutout defeat. The 26-year-old Butto's allowed just six runs in his last three starts (16 innings), though he's gone 1-2 in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at a solid 3.08 through his first 38 innings this year with a 1.13 WHIP and 38:21 K:BB. Butto's currently in line for a road start early next week against the Guardians. • Set to start Wednesday
The Mets will recall Lucchesi from Triple-A Syracuse to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lucchesi will be making his first big-league appearance of the season after posting a 2.58 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across 38.1 innings in the minors. The 30-year-old southpaw found success with the Mets last season, but he will be tested in his first outing of 2024 by a Phillies lineup that boasts a .755 OPS. Rotowire.com Today, 3:14 pm

  • Pirates designate Josh Fleming for assignment
Pirates designated LHP Josh Fleming for assignment.

Advice: Fleming has been removed from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster after struggling to an inflated 5.68 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 13/9 K/BB ratio across 19 innings (17 appearances, one start). The soft-tossing 27-year-old lefty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed, but it’s always possible he generates some interest. Rotoworld Today, 3:14 pm

  • Joey Luccesi starting Wednesday vs. Phillies
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports Joey Lucchesi will start on Wednesday against the Phillies.

Advice: Lucchesi will take the ball for a spot start in place of Adrian Houser, who wound up being scratched from his scheduled outing after warming up in the event that he was needed during the late stages of Tuesday’s contest. The 30-year-old southpaw will be making his season debut after posting a 2.58 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 28/16 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (seven starts) for Triple-A Syracuse. • Designated for assignment
The Pirates designated Fleming for assignment Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Advice: Fleming was torched for six runs (five earned) during Monday's win over the Brewers, causing his ERA to skyrocket from 3.50 to 5.68 on the season. Although his most recent outing was rough, his solid start to the season may still attract interest from other teams in need of bullpen depth. Ryder Ryan was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:46 pm
