    The Giants placed Bailey on the 7-day concussion IL on Tuesday, retroactive to Sunday.

    Advice: Bailey missed the Giants' last two games due to an illness, and he met with a team doctor Monday to determine whether or not his illness was related to the concussion he suffered earlier in May. He will now return to the concussion IL and will be eligible to return to action Sunday, though the Giants will likely be more cautious this time around before inserting him back into their lineup. Blake Sabol will take over as San Francisco's primary catcher while Bailey is out, and Marco Luciano will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the open roster spot.   • A.J. Puk earns save in win over Tigers
    A.J. Puk pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn his first save of the year in a 1-0 win over the Tigers.

    Advice: He’s back! After Puk was a disaster as a starting pitcher to begin the year, the Marlins transitioned him back to the bullpen while he was on a rehab assignment and then immediately thrust him into high-leverage outings. Tanner Scott did pitch the ninth in a tie game on Tuesday, but he also allowed one hit and walked one which has been par for the course for him this year. For his part, Puk allowed three soft fly outs to strand the extra runner in the bottom of the tenth inning and secure the save.   • Jesús Sánchez drives in game-winning run on Tueday
    Jesús Sánchez went 1-for-4 with a game-winning groundout in the Marlins win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

    Advice: Not exactly a thrilling way to earn a victory, but Sánchez had a hard-hit groundball in the top of the 10th inning that drove in a run and gave Miami a 1-0 lead. The 26-year-old is hitting just .237 on the season, but he’s making a lot of hard contact and his name was all over the Statcast bat speed and short swing leaderboards that came out this week. He’s a talented hitter, but he’s simply hitting too many groundballs right now. Still, he plays every game against right-handed pitching and hits in the middle of the Marlins’ lineup, so he’s a name you should keep an eye on. A slight approach change could lead to big results.   • Ryan Weathers blanks Tigers despite hard hits
    Ryan Weathers threw eight shutout innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Tuesday, allowing three hits while striking out four.

    Advice: Weathers didn’t walk a batter or allow any extra-base hits, but he also didn’t miss many bats either. He had just five total whiffs on 52 swings and three of them came on his sweeper. That amounted to a 10 percent whiff rate and a 19 percent CSW overall. He also allowed nine hard-hit baseballs despite just giving up three hits so things certainly broke his way tonight. He’ll now carry a 3.81 ERA into a tougher start next week against the Brewers. He remains a risky streamer for deeper formats given the unlikelihood of earning a win. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

    Giants recalled SS Marco Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento.

    Advice: Luciano gets the call to provide the Giants with a much-needed extra bat heading into Tuesday’s showdown against the division-rival Dodgers.     Advice: No word yet on the exact nature of the injury that Bailey is dealing with, but he was set to miss his third straight contest on Tuesday night due to an illness that appears to be related to the concussion he suffered earlier this month.     Advice: Francis threw 28 pitches and looked sharp in his first rehab outing as he aims to rejoin Toronto’s bullpen in a versatile multi-inning role. The 28-year-old righty was unable to make it work as a traditional starter at the outset of the year, but he’s been really effective in shorter stints out of the bullpen in recent years.     Mets sent RHP Max Kranick outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

    Advice: Kranick went unclaimed on waivers earlier this month after being designated for assignment and will head back to Triple-A Syracuse as extra organizational depth.
