  • Cashman talking to agent for 3B Todd Frazier
Yankees GM Brian Cashman acknowledged Tuesday that he has been having conversations with the agent for Todd Frazier.

Advice: Frazier posted a decent .788 OPS with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 66 games this past season for the Yankees after they acquired him from the White Sox on July 19. Chase Headley was traded to the Padres on Tuesday morning, leaving a clear vacancy at third base in New York. It's a pretty good fit. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:54 pm

  • Mets' Callaway has been in touch with Napoli
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Mets manager Mickey Callaway has been in touch with free agent first baseman Mike Napoli to gauge his interest.

Advice: Napoli played with the Rangers this past season, but he knows Callaway from his time in Cleveland in 2016. The 36-year-old could make sense as an insurance policy or platoon partner for young first baseman Dominic Smith. Napoli socked 29 homers this past season, but he had career-lows with a .193 batting average and a .713 OPS. He underwent surgery after the season to repair a torn ligament in his right hand, which provides a partial explanation for the poor production. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:55 am

  • Padres officially reunite with Chase Headley
Padres acquired 3B Chase Headley, RHP Bryan Mitchell and cash considerations from the Yankees for OF Jabari Blash.

Advice: This is strictly a salary dump for the Yankees while the Padres are willing to take a shot on Mitchell turning the corner. Headley, who turns 34 next May, batted .273/.352/.406 with 12 homers and 61 RBI over 147 games this past season. He's owed $13 million in 2018. The reunion with Headley gives the Padres some flexibility to consider other trades. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:33 am
  • Report: Neil Walker seeking four-year deal
According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, free agent second baseman Neil Walker is seeking a four-year deal.

Advice: Walker is 32 years old and had back surgery last year, so it's probably unrealistic. Teams also have multiple alternatives available on the trade front. Walker batted .265/.362/.439 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI in 111 games this past season between the Mets and Brewers. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:02 am

  • Rockies remain interested in Mark Reynolds
The Rockies remain interested in free agent first baseman Mark Reynolds, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Advice: The Rockies are also interested in Carlos Santana, so they could be viewing Reynolds as a fallback. The 34-year-old Reynolds thrived with Colorado this past season, batting .267/.352/.487 with 30 homers and 97 RBI over 148 games. He had a .977 OPS at Coors Field compared to a .703 OPS on the road.
