  • Cory Spangenberg has two-hit game
Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 loss against the Athletics.

Advice: Spangenberg was the only Padres player to bring his hitting shoes to Petco Park, posting the only multi-hit game for the home side. All eight San Diego starting batters struck out at least once in the game, including one by Spangenberg. Despite the two-hit game he is still batting just .232 overall. However, he is enjoying his best month of the season, hitting .320 (16-for-50) to raise his average from .182 since flipping the calendar from May. 21 minutes ago
  • Blake Treinen strikes out the side
Blake Treinen worked around a single while striking out the side in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday in San Diego for his 16th save.

Advice: Treinen has been lights out, as he just continues to pound the strike zone. He threw 13 of his 16 pitches for strikes, lowering his ERA to 1.03. He has converted 16 of his 18 save chances, and he is likely going to be rewarded with an All-Star appearance at this rate. Treinen has yielded just two earned runs over his past 23 innings across 20 appearances. 38 minutes ago
  • Ian Kinsler reaches double digits in homers
Ian Kinsler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-4 victory against Arizona.

Advice: Kinsler is limping along with a .225 average and just 20 RBI across 240 at-bats, but he has helped out with 10 homers. Seven of those long balls have come in the month of June. He still has a lot of work to do in the batting average department, but it's nice that the power is starting to come around. Yesterday, 11:25 pm
  • Brandon Nimmo drives in another run
Brandon Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 10-8 loss at Colorado.

Advice: Nimmo, who hails from nearby Cheyenne, Wyoming, has really enjoyed the team's road trip to the Mountain Time Zone. He is 10-for-19 with a double, three homers, seven RBI and seven runs scored over his past four outings. Nimmo has been the only consistent threat at the plate for the Mets, and he'll continue to play regularly even when Yoenis Cespedes (quadriceps) is healthy enough to return. Yesterday, 10:19 pm
  • Pedroia (knee) not close to baseball activity
Dustin Pedroia (knee) is not close to beginning baseball activities.

Advice: Pedroia was placed back on the disabled list on May 30, five days after returning from an offseason cartilage restoration procedure on his left knee. "It’s major surgery. He didn’t know what to expect," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday. "So we are where we are now. We’re hoping that, yeah, he’ll be back. When? We don’t know. I still believe that he’s going to contribute this season and he’s going to help us to win." Yesterday, 10:01 pm
