  • Mets select Braxton Lee in Rule 5 Draft
Mets selected OF Braxton Lee from the Marlins in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft.

Advice: The Marlins talked up Lee as a future contributor last spring, but he posted a weak .233/.316/.294 batting line over three different levels of their minor league system in 2018 and went 3-for-17 (.176) over his first eight major league games. The 25-year-old will be organizational outfield depth for the Mets. Rotoworld.com 39 minutes ago

  • Six teams in on J.T. Realmuto trade market
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the J.T. Realmuto trade market is "essentially down to six teams: Reds, Mets, Rays, Braves, Dodgers, and Padres."

Advice: There was an expectation that Realmuto would be traded at some point during this week's Winter Meetings, but that's not going to happen as teams are packing up and heading out of Las Vegas. The Marlins are still sifting through offers and trying to get multiple young players in return for the 27-year-old catcher. Realmuto batted .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI over 125 games this past season with Miami. He is under control through 2020. Rotoworld.com 57 minutes ago
  • Dodgers have 'checked in on' Wilson Ramos
Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers have "checked in on" free agent catcher Wilson Ramos.

Advice: Castillo adds, however, that the Dodgers are only interested in discussing a one-year deal with Ramos at the moment. The 31-year-old should be able to find multi-year offers on the open market this winter after batting .306/.358/.487 with 15 homers and 70 RBI over 111 games between the Rays and Phillies in 2018. There's known to be interest from the Mets and Brewers. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:44 am

  • Edwin Encarnacion 'will be flipped' to Rays
Scott Miller of Bleacher Report writes that Edwin Encarnacion "will be flipped" to the Rays.

Advice: It should be noted that Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times is hearing there is no swap in place at the moment. Encarnacion was just dealt from the Indians to the Mariners in a three-team trade involving the Rays, but it sounds like he won't even get a chance to don a Seattle uniform -- just like Carlos Santana before him. The 35-year-old slugger batted .246/.336/.474 with 32 home runs and 107 RBI over 137 games with Cleveland in 2018. He's due $21.67 million in 2019. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:38 am
  • Brewers get lefty Alex Claudio from Rangers
Brewers acquired LHP Alex Claudio from the Rangers for a competitive-balance Round A draft pick.

Advice: That competitive-balance draft pick is expected to come in at No. 40 or No. 41 overall next June. Claudio had a rough season with the Rangers in 2018, but he put up a 2.66 ERA over his first 162 1/3 major league innings between 2014-2017 and he's held left-handed batters to a .194/.220/.278 slash line since breaking into the bigs. It's another big weapon for the already-stout Milwaukee bullpen. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:35 am
