    Manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Burdi (hip) will return from the injured list Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

    Advice: Burdi has been on the IL since April 19 due to right hip inflammation. He pitched in a rehab game at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, striking out all three batters he faced in his lone inning of work.     Triple-A Worcester transferred Walter (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

    Advice: Walter possesses a spot on the Red Sox's 40-man roster, but he's currently residing on the Triple-A club's IL since he was optioned to the affiliate in early March. He strained his left shoulder toward the end of camp and has yet to pitch for Worcester.     Clase (2-1) earned the extra-inning win Wednesday over the Tigers, striking out one without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning.

    Advice: Clase was sharp in the 10th inning despite a fielder's choice and a wild pitch, and the Guardians completed their comeback on a walk-off Brayan Rocchio single in the bottom of the frame. This outing extended Clase's scoreless streak to five innings, and he's gone 12.1 innings without giving up an earned run.     Duarte underwent UCL revision surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

    Advice: It was known that Duarte was going to have an operation on his elbow, but the specific type of procedure hadn't been revealed until now.
