  • Carlos Santana turns down Indians' QO
1B Carlos Santana rejected the Indians' one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offer.

Advice: Santana had a rough first half in his walk year but rebounded big time after the All-Star break to ultimately finish with a .259/.363/.455 batting line and 23 home runs. He'll turn 32 just after Opening Day in 2018 but won't have trouble landing a big contract this winter. Rotoworld.com 35 minutes ago

  • Greg Holland rejects qualifying offer
RHP Greg Holland rejected the Rockies' one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offer.

Advice: Holland had already previously declined his $15 million player option and is now officially a free agent after turning down his qualifying offer. He really struggled in the second half for the Rockies in 2017 but will get a multi-year contract this winter, anyway. Rotoworld.com 50 minutes ago

  • Wade Davis turns down qualifying offer
RHP Wade Davis rejected the Cubs' one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offer.

Advice: It was a formality, as Davis is the top reliever hitting the free agent market this offseason and is set to receive a big multi-year contract. He put up a 2.30 ERA and 79/28 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings while notching 32 saves for the Cubs in 2017. Rotoworld.com 52 minutes ago

  • Alex Cobb rejects Rays' qualifying offer
RHP Alex Cobb rejected the Rays' one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offer.

Advice: Cobb might not wind up getting that much on an average annual basis on his new contract, but he's in line to receive a multi-year deal this winter, making it a pretty easy call to reject the offer. He held a 3.66 ERA and 128/44 K/BB ratio over 179 1/3 innings this past season in his first full year back from Tommy John surgery. Rotoworld.com 55 minutes ago

  • Giants 'most aggressive' team for Stanton
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Giants "have been the most aggressive team" in trade talks involving Giancarlo Stanton.

Advice: The Giants and Cardinals have been the two clubs pegged as the most determined in negotiations about the just-named National League MVP. Of course, it remains to be seen whether Stanton would even be willing to accept a trade to either team. Nightengale adds that the Marlins are "not close" to trading their star outfielder anywhere at this point, although the likelihood that he'll be dealt at some point this offseason remains very high. Miami would surely like more teams to get in on the bidding and they may wait things out in hopes that that happens. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:45 am
