Player Notes

  • Julio Teheran gives up three runs in win
Julio Teheran survived three solo homers in allowing three runs over 6 1/3 innings Monday in a victory over the Angels.

Advice: Andrelton Simmons, Albert Pujols and Luis Valbuena took him deep, but Teheran had six runs to work with tonight. He earned his fourth win to even up his record. His ERA sits at 4.82. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:47 pm
  • Ricky Nolasco drops to 2-5
Ricky Nolasco fell to 2-5 after giving up six runs -- two earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Monday against the Braves.

Advice: Nolasco has been reliable since arriving from the Twins last summer, but he ran into all kinds of trouble in the third inning tonight and couldn't escape. Even before Cliff Pennington's error, he had giving up three hits and a walk. The Braves collected two more hits afterwards to take a 6-0 lead before Nolasco was finally pulled. He'll try to bounce back against his old teammates in Minnesota this weekend. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:45 pm
  • Jose De Leon gets win in shaky relief outing
Jose De Leon was credited with a win in his Rays debut after allowing three runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief Monday against the Rangers.

Advice: De Leon gave the Rays the innings they wanted after they called him this afternoon. They weren't all that impressive, though, as he allowed four hits, including a Shin-Soo Choo homer, and three walks. He'll probably head back to Triple-A now. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:36 pm
  • Shin-Soo Choo homers, knocks in three
Shin-Soo Choo went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and a walk against the Rays on Monday.

Advice: Choo's homer was his seventh. It's be nice if he were more effective on the basepaths, but with his OBP up in the .370 range, he should be the Rangers' regular leadoff hitter at this point. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
  • Whit Merrifield misses cycle by a single
Whit Merrifield homered, tripled and doubled against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Merrifield had a chance to go for the cycle, but he flied out in his final at-bat in the seventh and the Royals couldn't get back to him in the ninth. That's because Merrifield was hitting seventh, even though he's been one of the Royals' best hitters. After tonight, his .828 OPS is the best on the squad, and he has 135 points of OBP on leadoff man Alcides Escobar (.341 to .206). Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:16 pm
