    • Belts grand slam in victory
Canha went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and two walks Saturday in an 8-2 victory versus the Astros.

Advice: Canha set the tone early for the Tigers with a second-inning grand slam off Houston starter Cristian Javier. It was a much-needed big hit for the veteran slugger, who had gone 2-for-24 without an RBI while striking out nine times over his previous six games. The grand slam was the third of Canha's career. • Mark Canha crushes grand slam in win over Astros
Mark Canha crushed a grand slam in the second inning on Saturday night as the Tigers pummeled the Astros at Comerica Park.

Advice: Riley Greene drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to push the first run across, then Canha broke the game wide open with his 393-foot (102.9 mph EV) four-run blast off of Astros’ right-hander Cristian Javier. He also drew a pair of walks in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3. On the season, the 35-year-old outfielder is now hitting .242/.365/.452 with six long balls, 20 RBI and one stolen base. Nolan Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Kris Bryant (back) will start his rehab assignment on Tuesday, with Jones likely a day or two behind him. Rockies’ manager Bud Black said Sunday that both injured outfielders could return to the team at some point during their upcoming road trip. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:19 pm

Friedl went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: Friedl's fourth-inning double was his first extra-base hit since returning from a fractured wrist. It also produced the go-ahead run for Cincinnati, which snapped an eight-game losing streak. Friedl is 4-for-18 with one stolen base in four contests since his return. • Mark Canha returns to Tigers’ lineup on Friday
Mark Canha (illness) returned to the Tigers’ starting lineup for their series opener against the Astros on Friday night.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder missed each of the team’s last two contests due to illness. He’s off to a decent start overall through his first 34 games with the Tigers — hitting .248/.367/.444 with five homers, 16 RBI, one stolen base and a 28/17 K/BB ratio. He’ll serve as the team’s designated hitter and bat third against left-hander Framber Valdez on Friday evening in Motown. Rotoworld Friday, 2:32 pm

    • Back in lineup
Canha (illness) is batting third as the Tigers' designated hitter for Friday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Canha has been dealing with an upper respiratory illness and missed a pair of games due to the issue. However, he seems to be on the mend, as he'll be making his first appearance since May 6. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:50 am

    • Delivers winning run
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Reds.

Advice: Carroll delivered the go-ahead run on a two-out single in the top of the eighth inning, a half inning after the Reds plated three runs to tie the game. The outfielder returned to the top of the order this week after a season-opening slump dropped him to the lower third in late April. He's worked through the slow start, which he attributed to a flat swing, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Carroll has a pop-up rate of 15.2 percent on the season, more than double than what it was in 2023 (7.3 percent). Rotowire.com Friday, 4:43 am
    • Ready to increase activity
Jones (back) did light throwing prior to Thursday's game against the Giants and will continue to ramp up his activity Friday or Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones has been out since April 30 and did light throwing and running drills Saturday. If this weekend goes according to plan, he could head out on a rehab assignment in the coming days. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:16 pm

    • Corbin Carroll knocks in go-ahead run against Reds
Corbin Carroll knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Thursday to help the D-Backs to a 5-4 win over the Reds.

Advice: In what has been a very disappointing season for Carroll, the 23-year-old came up big Thursday with an RBI single to score Tucker Barnhart that broke a 4-4 tie and ultimately gave Arizona the victory. The 23-year-old was one of the best fantasy players regardless of age, and while his .206/.300/.270 slash is anything but ideal, there’s obvious reasons to believe he’ll bounce back considerably in the summer months.
