      The Blue Jays hope Garcia (back) will be available to pitch Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: Garcia's last appearance came all the way back on April 28 as he deals with a nagging back issue. He's apparently feeling better, though, and as long as he checks out well during a pregame throwing session he is expected to be available out of the bullpen Wednesday.       Verlander (1-1) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up seven runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over five innings as the Astros were routed 10-3 by the Yankees. He struck out two.

      Advice: The 41-year-old right-hander looked his age, managing only six swinging strikes among his 97 pitches as he got tagged for his most earned runs in a start since July 2, 2017 against Cleveland. Verlander has served up five homers in four starts and 22.1 innings, which isn't unusual for him, but he's beginning to have trouble keeping traffic off the basepaths ahead of the long balls -- he's walked at least three batters in three straight starts.       Paredes went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.

      Advice: The 25-year-old continues to rake. Paredes has seven multi-hit performances in the last 12 games, a stretch in which he's batting .362 (17-for-47) with a 6:4 BB:K. The surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .299/.384/.520 with eight homers and 19 RBI, and with top prospect Junior Caminero tearing it up himself at Triple-A Durham (.340/.392/.681 over his last 12 games), Paredes is doing his best to ensure he won't lose his spot in the starting lineup once the Rays call up the 20-year-old phenom.       Advice: Marte clubbed the second of back-to-back home runs in a four-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach.       Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated last week that May (elbow) is getting close to throwing off a mound, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: May has been rehabbing from the right flexor tendon and UCL reconstruction revision surgery he underwent last July, and advancing to mound work will be a major step in his recovery. The right-hander has had two elbow surgeries in the past three years, so the organization is likely to be conservative in setting a timeline for his eventual return to game action. If his rehab continues to go smoothly, May could be ready to join Los Angeles sometime after the All-Star break, though there's no guarantee that the Dodgers will let him throw in big-league games this season.       Lugo didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Lugo gave up a hit and a walk in the first frame, then followed the inning up with back-to-back homers to start the second. After that, however, Lugo retired nine straight batters and kept the Brewers off the scoreboard until the seventh inning. He was seemingly set up for his sixth win of the season with the Royals up 5-3 heading into the ninth, but Willy Adames took Lugo out of contention for the W with a go-ahead three-run home run. Lugo has pitched at least six innings in seven of his eight starts and has gone into the seventh five times. He's scheduled to make his next start Sunday against the Angels.       Advice: Although Ober wasn't credited with the win, he allowed three or fewer hits for the fifth time in his last six appearances. Both runs against him came in the second, when Mitch Haniger swatted a leadoff homer and Luis Urias scored from first on a Dylan Moore double. After a hideous eight-run, 1.1-inning start to kick off the regular season, Ober has been outstanding, with a 2.55 ERA and a 34:7 K:BB across 35.1 innings.       Bailey Ober allowed two earned runs over five innings while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Ober allowed two runs in the second, one of which came on a solo homer to Mitch Haniger, but he was largely in control in this one. He walked just one batter to go along with three hits, and he retired the last six batters he faced before turning things over to the bullpen. The Twins’ relievers would go on to allow eight earned runs over four innings to spoil Ober’s perfect outing, as he’ll now look to notch his second win of the month on Sunday against the Blue Jays.       Seth Lugo yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.
