    • Jeremy Peña blasts solo homer in loss
Jeremy Peña went 3-for-4 with a solo homer against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Peña had a productive day at the plate against New York, collecting three hits on the day. He knocked a pair of base hits in the fourth and sixth innings, then took Victor González deep for a solo homer in the eighth. The 26-year-old shortstop is slashing .326/.367/.464 with four homers, 21 runs scored, 14 RBI, and five steals across 147 plate appearances. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
    • Red Sox activate Nick Pivetta from 15-day IL
Red Sox activated RHP Nick Pivetta from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 31-year-old hurler will rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation on Wednesday night against the Braves. Prior to landing on the injured list, Pivetta had posted a 1-1 record, 0.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings through his first two starts. Given the fact that he threw just 62 pitches in his last rehab start — and the tough matchup against the Braves — fantasy managers may want to wait and see on this one before re-inserting him into lineups. • Activated prior to Wednesday start
The Red Sox activated Pivetta (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Pivetta will rejoin the Red Sox's rotation Wednesday in Atlanta. The right-hander has been sidelined since April 9 with a right elbow flexor strain but was cleared to return after making one rehab start. He went just three innings and threw only 62 pitches in his lone rehab outing last Thursday, so Pivetta probably won't be asked to handle a full workload in his return to the big-league rotation. • Lit up by Phillies
Berrios (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against Philadelphia, surrendering eight earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters across 3.2 innings.

Advice: Berrios had trouble locating the strike zone Tuesday and often found himself working with a lot of traffic on the basepaths, which were twice cleared by home runs. He was able to strike out batters at a notable rate, matching his season high in roughly half the innings, but he was immediately pulled after Bryce Harper's fourth-inning grand slam made it an 8-0 game. Despite Berrios' ugly performance Tuesday, he still holds a 2.85 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through his first eight starts, and he'll get a chance to bounce back against the Orioles on Sunday. • Sits out Wednesday
Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Anderson appears to be getting a routine day off while he's accumulated just one hit over his last four games. Vidal Brujan will slide over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am

    • No support in loss
Burnes (3-2) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Advice: The three walks matched a season high, and the Nationals proved opportunistic by logging three steals with Burnes on the mound. The right-hander has earned a quality start in five of his eight outings and has yet to give up more than three runs in any of his starts. He's winless over his last three starts but owns a 2.83 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB through 47.2 innings overall. Burnes lines up for a home start versus the Blue Jays in his next outing. • Makes season debut
Sewald allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over one inning in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Reds.

Advice: Sewald made his season debut Tuesday in a non-save situation -- a low-key introduction after spending the first six-plus weeks on the injured list due to an oblique injury. He allowed a home run to Tyler Stephenson while mopping up in the ninth inning. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that Sewald would reclaim the closer's role from Kevin Ginkel. Rotowire.com Today, 3:50 am
    • Tim Anderson goes 0-for-4 in loss to Dodgers
Tim Anderson went 0-for-4 against the Dodgers on Tuesday, dropping his average to .203.

Advice: It was worth seeing if Anderson might bounce back from his awful 2023, but he’s been even worse in 35 games this year. In 118 plate appearances, he has three extra-base hits, six walks and 37 strikeouts. His contact numbers are horrible, and he’s not making hard contact when he does hit the ball. He’s also not very good defensively at this stage of his career. Otto Lopez wouldn’t be more than a placeholder for the Marlins, but he has to be better than Anderson right now. • José Berríos coughs up 8 runs in loss to Phillies
José Berríos allowed eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Berríos was able to strike out seven on the day, compared to just two walks, and he allowed just three hard-hit balls all day. However, that led to four extra-base hits and two home runs, so the Phillies made the most of their contact. Berríos was able to post a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day and allowed an average exit velocity of 90.4 mph, but he put himself in tough spots by throwing just 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone. All in all, it feels like more of an off night for Berríos than the sign of any major regression. He now has a 2.85 ERA on the season and will get another tough test against the Orioles next week.
