    • Wins third straight
Lopez (4-2) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing one run on four hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Lopez was excellent Thursday, holding Seattle to a lone second-inning run while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. After an inconsistent start to the campaign, Lopez looks to be settling in -- he's won his last three starts while holding opponents to one run in back-to-back outings. He lowered his ERA to 3.89 with a 0.98 WHIP and a stellar 55:8 K:BB across eight starts (44 innings) this year. Lopez is currently slated for a home matchup with the Yankees in his next outing. • Three-hit game for Ezequiel Tovar against Giants
Ezequiel Tovar picked up three hits and scored a run in a victory over the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Tovar singled twice and also doubled. The RBI came on that double in the fourth inning, and he’s up to eight two-baggers with 13 RBI over the first 36 games of 2024. Tovar still has work to be done, but at the age of 22, he’s got time to figure it all out. A .269/.314/.400 slash gives you an idea of what he’s capable of in the coming seasons. • Jeimer Candelario swats solo homer in loss
Jeimer Candelario hit a solo homer Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Candelario got the Reds on the board with a solo blast off Slade Cecconi in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old has driven in just 12 runs over 36 games in 2024, and the homer is the fourth of the year. Better things should be ahead for Candelario in the coming months, if not sooner. • Pablo López whiffs 10 in dominant win over M’s
Pablo López allowed just a run while striking out 10 over 6 1/3 innings in a victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: López held the M’s to four hits, didn’t walk anyone, and threw 61-of-100 pitches for strikes. The only run came on an RBI single by Luke Raley in the second, and the only reason that run was able to score was Mitch Haniger reached on a bloop-double where two Minnesota defenders ran into each other. Outside of that the right-hander continued to impress, and he lowered his ERA to 3.89 — a number that is not indicative of how well he’s pitched this year. López will be a must-start even against the Yankees next week. Rotoworld Today, 1:04 pm

    • Drives in four in twin bill
Heim went 2-for-7 with a walk, two runs scored and four RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the A's.

Advice: After going 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly as the DH in the matinee, Heim moved behind the plate for the nightcap and drove in three more runs. The 28-year-old catcher has four multi-hit performances in his last seven games, a surge that has boosted his slash line on the season to .300/.341/.425 with four homers, 18 runs and 26 RBI through 33 contests. • Homers among three hits
Pena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a 9-4 loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Pena had been in a small funk coming into the contest, going 2-for-14 over his previous four games. He bounced back Wednesday with his fourth three-hit performance of the campaign, which included his first long ball in May. Pena has been a pleasant surprise for Houston this season, slashing .326/.367/.464 with four homers, 14 RBI, 21 runs and five stolen bases through 147 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 12:49 am

    • Pops 11th homer
Henderson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored Wednesday in a 7-6 extra-innings win over Washington.

Advice: Henderson gave Baltimore its first lead with a solo shot in the sixth inning. That snapped a seven-game stretch without a long ball for the shortstop, which was his longest homerless span of the campaign. Henderson is tied for second in the majors with 11 home runs on the season, and he's added 25 RBI, 28 runs, six stolen bases and a .271/.344/.563 slash line through 36 games. • Fills in at first base
Candelario started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Arizona.

Advice: Candelario moved across the diamond from third base to cover first for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Candelario is one of several Cincinnati bats off to a slow start; the three-hit night raised his season average to .206, just the second day it's been above .200. Santiago Espinal took over for Candelario at third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:44 pm

    • Jeremy Peña blasts solo homer in loss
Jeremy Peña went 3-for-4 with a solo homer against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Peña had a productive day at the plate against New York, collecting three hits on the day. He knocked a pair of base hits in the fourth and sixth innings, then took Victor González deep for a solo homer in the eighth. The 26-year-old shortstop is slashing .326/.367/.464 with four homers, 21 runs scored, 14 RBI, and five steals across 147 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:50 pm
