Davis isn't in Oakland's lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rangers.

Advice: Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice during a 9-4 victory in Game 1, and he'll catch a breather to conclude Wednesday's activities. Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base instead while batting eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:24 pm

    • Teoscar Hernández homers, Dodgers fillet Marlins
Teoscar Hernández went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Wednesday, powering the Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Hernández was a one-man wrecking crew, taking full advantage of a tasty matchup for him against young southpaw Ryan Weathers, delivering a run-scoring single in the opening frame before crushing a two-run blast in the sixth inning. It was the lefty-mashing veteran slugger’s 10th round-tripper of the season and fourth time he’s gone deep in his last six contests. Rotoworld Today, 2:35 pm

    • Out 4-to-6 weeks
Reds manager David Bell said that Encarnacion-Strand, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after tests revealed a new fracture in his right wrist, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Initial imaging after Encarnacion-Strand was hit on the hand by a pitch late last month came back clean, but subsequent tests revealed a right ulnar styloid fracture. The 24-year-old has hit a disappointing .190/.220/.293 with two home runs in 29 games for the Reds this season. Cincinnati will turn to Jeimer Candelario to replace Encarnacion-Strand at first base in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, while Santiago Espinal enters the lineup at first base. The Reds signed Mike Ford to a one-year contract Wednesday and could also turn to him for starts at first base while Encarnacion-Strand is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Today, 1:10 pm
    • Sitting against lefty
Benson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Benson and fellow lefty hitter Jake Fraley will head to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Jordan Montgomery toes the slab for Arizona. Stuart Fairchild and Luke Maile will join the lineup as the starters in right field and designated hitter, respectively, while Benson and Fraley sit. Rotowire.com Today, 12:45 pm

    • Reds place Christian Encarnacion-Strand on IL
Reds placed Christian Encarnacion-Strand on the 10-day injured list with a right ulnar styloid fracture.

Advice: CES took a pitch off his wrist a couple weeks ago and the initial X-Rays came back negative, but now the team is saying there is a fracture which will sideline him forthe next six to eight weeks. Santiago Espinal is likely to take over duties at the hot corner full time until the 24-year-old can return to the Cincinnati’s lineup. Rotoworld Today, 11:54 am
    • Placed on IL with fractured wrist
The Reds placed Encarnacion-Strand on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right ulnar styloid fracture.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand was hit on the hand by a pitch late last month and missed four games with lingering soreness. While initial imaging didn't reveal a new injury, it did show that the infielder has an old fracture that could be contributing to the discomfort. Ultimately, the Reds have opted to give him some extra down time, although it's not clear how long Encarnacion-Strand might be out. Cincinnati signed Mike Ford to the 26-man active roster to provide extra depth at first base/designated hitter while Encarnacion-Strand is out, and Cincinnati could also shift Jeimer Candelario over to first base and use Santiago Espinal at third base. • Ankle issues not long term
Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Cruz's recurring left ankle issues are not believing to be a long-term concern, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Cruz played just nine games before a fractured left ankle ended his 2023 season. The ankle has since bothered him off and on during the 2024 season, including most recently during Monday's game versus the Angels. He's been able to mostly play through it, but you have to wonder whether it could be contributing to Cruz's disappointing .244/.293/.382 batting line. However, at least at this juncture, it does not appear the team is worried about Cruz's ankle problems becoming chronic. Rotowire.com Today, 8:46 am

    • Nabs ninth save
Iglesias struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his ninth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The right-hander topped out at 97.1 mph as he bounced back from a blown save in his last appearance Friday. Iglesias hasn't been as dominant as usual to begin the season, managing a 10:3 K:BB through 14.1 innings, but his 1.88 ERA and 0.98 WHIP have been stellar. With his velocity finally getting back to normal as the weather warms up, more strikeouts could soon follow. Rotowire.com Today, 8:32 am
    • Sitting out Wednesday
Freeman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Freeman started in each of the Guardians' last five games but will begin Wednesday's tilt on the bench. Will Brennan will fill in for Freeman in center field. Rotowire.com Today, 7:25 am
