    • Joe Musgrove shelled over 3 2/3 in loss to PHI
Joe Musgrove gave up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Giving up eight hits while not getting out of the fourth inning. Giving up four homers in that time is worse. Musgrove simply didn’t have it Friday night against the loaded Philadelphia lineup, and a starter who had been just so-so coming into the outing was much worse than that. Musgrove will work on lowering his 6.94 ERA against the Reds on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 pm

    • José Buttó gives up two homers in loss to Cards
José Buttó took his first loss after giving up four runs in 5 2/3 innings Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Buttó allowed just four hits, but two of them were long homers that accounted for all of the runs. The three-run homer from Alec Burleson in the second scored baserunners who had reached on a HBP and a walk. Control was the concern with Butto going in. There’s still a lot to like here, but that he’s walked 12 and hit three batters in 22 innings is rather discouraging. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Marlins in ninth
Kyle Finnegan secured his eighth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead against the Marlins.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander made things look awfully easy in this one, getting Josh Bell on a swinging third strike, Jesus Sanchez on a line out to shortstop and Tim Anderson on a ground ball to second — needing only six pitches (all strikes) to get the job done. The underlying metrics aren’t great, but it’s hard to argue with the results that Finnegan has put up so far. He now boasts a 2.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings while converting eight of his first nine save chances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:50 pm
    • Drives in three runs
Witt went 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored during Friday's 8-0 win at Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old started the scoring with a sacrifice fly during the third inning and added a two-run triple as part of a seven-run ninth for the Royals. Witt is in a bit of a power drought with no homers in his past 14 games, though he does have six RBI and three steals over his last four contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:59 pm

    • Cody Bradford (rib) diagnosed with stress fracture
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters on Friday that Cody Bradford has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his rib.

Advice: That explains why the 26-year-old southpaw hasn’t progressed as quickly as the Rangers had hoped in his recovery from a sore lower back. He’s expected to miss at least a month’s worth of action. By the time he’s ready to return, it seems unlikely that there will be a spot for him in the Rangers’ rotation if everyone else is able to stay healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:23 pm

    • Managing rib stress fracture
Bradford (back) was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his rib Friday and is expected to be sidelined for about a month, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The left-hander wasn't progressing as expected in his recovery after landing on the shelf April 14 with lower-back soreness, and a rib stress fracture is the apparent culprit. Bradford will now be sidelined through at least late May, and a more specific timeline should come into focus as he ramps up his rehab work. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:16 pm

    • Andrés Giménez not in Guardians lineup on Friday
Andrés Giménez is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Braves.

Advice: The switch-hitting 25-year-old infielder went hitless (0-for-10) during their series against the Red Sox to start the week, so perhaps Guardians’ skipper Stephen Vogt just wants to give him a day to clear his head. Gabriel Arias will start in his place at second base and will bat seventh against Chris Sale and the Braves on Friday evening in Atlanta. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:55 pm

    • Bobby Witt Jr. plates three runs to lead Royals
Bobby Witt Jr. went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI on Friday afternoon, propelling the Royals to an 8-0 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar opened the scoring in the third inning with a sacrifice fly off of Reese Olson. That would be the only run scored for either side until the Royals broke the game open with a seven-run ninth inning. Witt featured heavily in that frame, crushing a three-run triple off of Will Vest and scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. He has lived up to his lofty fantasy draft status so far this season — slashing .306/.350/.565 with four homers, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 27 games. • Sitting versus lefty
Gimenez is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: Atlanta is starting southpaw Chris Sale, so it's not a bad day for the left-handed hitting Gimenez to get a breather. Gabriel Arias will handle second base Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:52 pm
