    Advice: With Zac Gallen (hamstring) headed for the 15-day injured list, Cecconi will come up from the minors in order to fill the open spot in Arizona's rotation. The 24-year-old righty has been inconsistent in the majors this season, giving up two runs or less three times but also allowing six earned runs during his other three outings.     Advice: He’ll replace the injured Zac Gallen (hamstring) on the team’s active roster. It’s unclear if the Diamondbacks plan to have Cecconi take Gallen’s spot in the rotation, or if he’s just there to provide depth and length in the bullpen for a few days while they sort out their rotation plans.     Boyle (back) started Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Sugar Land on Wednesday and fired 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and two walks while recording three strikeouts.

    Advice: To label Boyle's start Wednesday an exponential improvement over his rehab debut last Thursday would be an understatement, considering the young right-hander didn't even record an out in that encounter with Triple-A Tacoma. Boyle was downright cruising in that context Wednesday, firing 25 of his 43 pitches for strikes -- and averaging 100.1 mph with his four-seamer per MLB.com -- during a much-needed confidence-building effort. Manager Mark Kotsay noted after the outing that Boyle felt as if he'd "turned a corner" with his back injury, but it remains to be seen if he'll get one more rehab outing before being activated.     Luciano was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Phillies in the bottom of third inning with right hamstring tightness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. He reached base on a throwing error during his only plate appearance before exiting the contest.

    Advice: Brett Wisely came off the bench to pinch hit for Luciano in the latter's second turn through the batting order. It's unclear whether Luciano first sustained the injury while he was playing shortstop in the top of the third or at some point earlier in the contest, but the Giants should provide more details on his condition after the game.     Advice: Just 10 days after getting claimed off waivers from Baltimore, McKenna's time with the Giants has come to an end. He sports a .626 OPS in 523 plate appearances across his MLB career and could draw some interest on the waiver wire from a team in need of outfield depth.
